Inspiration

Our inspiration came from the intent to make charitable donations more accessible and efficient. We wanted to create a platform that bridges the gap between donors and recipients, ensuring transparency and trust in the process. So that the donation doesn't go to wrong hand due to lack of transparency.

What it does

DonationMatch is a platform that connects donors with recipients. It allows users to browse through the requests of the people who are in need of donation, contact them and eventually make donations. The application also tracks their contributions on society. The vise versa goes for the people who need something as they can browse the donor list and pick up their desired object and if not founded they can post their need on the social browser of the app.

How we built it

We developed our application using the MERN stack. It took just four days to complete, thanks to the collaborative efforts of our team. We utilized MongoDB for the database, Express.js and Node.js for the backend, and React.js for the frontend. Each team member focused on their expertise to deliver a functional and user-friendly product. We looked through the similar renowned applications and company websites to have the perfect motive with suitable performance.

Challenges we ran into

We struggled to complete the project due to limited time and aimed goals. The biggest challenge, however, was making the platform more realistic and user-centric while ensuring it met practical needs. Besides, maintaining proper transparency for the donor and recipients is a big setback, cause on community service platforms preventing frauds is a must to build trust of the users.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of creating a functional and visually appealing platform in just a few days. Successfully implementing donation add and request processing and building an intuitive user interface were significant achievements.

What we learned

We not only gained experience but also learned effective collaboration and teamwork on a project. Furthermore, we faced many challenges and limitations in our project but successfully resolved them. In addition, we enhanced our understanding of secure application development, API integration, and efficient project management under tight deadlines. On the other hand, we learned a lot of procedures of building community or social service platforms and their aspects of building trust between people and connection to make the service more impactful.

What's next for DonationMatch

Our next steps include refining the platform's user experience, adding user verification methods, holding the privacy of the donor or requester if they need and expanding the functionalities. We also plan to scale the application to accommodate a larger user base and connect all level of people of the society`
