Hackathon Division
Inspiration
When I was in elementary school, my teachers would sometimes have us play math computer games. These games were the highlight of my day and were surprisingly very entertaining. Without even realizing it, I was building the foundation of the math skills I have today. From this, I have learned how important it is to make learning fun and interactive, so students will be motivated to learn and practice their skills.
What it does
Rocket Algebra is a computer game that uses your mouse to interact with its components and the numbers on your keyboard to answer math problems. It combines math learning with an engaging space adventure. Players solve math puzzles, like plotting y=mx+b lines and solving algebraic equations, to repair their crashed rocket and interact with NPCs as well.
How we built it
Built through Python and the pygame library
Challenges we ran into
Found out about this hackathon late, so a lot of time constraints.
What's next for Rocket Algebra
Improving graphics, adding real rocket parts to cover more STEM information, adding more math problems to solve.
