Inspiration

I was inspired by the game I Am Bread, where the player takes control of an inanimate food object to navigate around contaminants and reach toasted perfection. In this game, the player is a glass of water, and they have to avoid things that would fall into the water and soil it.

How it works

As the game is currently implemented, it is a 2D platformer, with debris falling from above, and if it goes in the water glass, you lose.

Challenges I ran into

In my original idea, I wanted to make Running Water very dependent on rotation and momentum, where you had to keep the water from spilling out of the glass. Water physics are hard, though, and so that feature had to be cut to make my deadline.

What's next for Running-Water

That doesn't mean that Running Water will never have the rotation and water physics I want it to have! I am currently working on a full engine rewrite, and once that is complete, I will be revisiting Running Water to make it all it could have been.
