Inspiration
Stress from college and personal struggles motivated this project. Some team members have had successes with positive affirmations and wanted to create a streamlined version of constructing them.
What it does
Thought-Pot guides the user through templated self-reflective snippets and allows them to save a compilation of these snippets in a png file. The site also features a resources tab that links to all the mental health resources available in each California State University.
How we built it
This application was build using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, Bootstrap.css, and html2canvas for screenshots.
Challenges we ran into
We faced troubles implementing the logic for the main page of the site and incorporating a screenshot library none of us has ever worked with. We also faced troubles working with bootstrap, as some team members were learning it for the first time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We finished building the most important features of the site and learned a lot in the process!
What we learned
We learned how to effectively use a version control system (Git & GitHub), how to implement a CSS library (bootstrap), how to take screenshots and save them (html2canvas), and project organization (Trello).
What's next for Thought-Pot
We wish to implement an About Page, more sophisticated and well-researched self-reflective snippets, and a popup mood check-in that assesses the mood of the user before they start writing their reflections.
