     This is one of the most interesting questions that ever came before the Church, All parties appreciate the importance of the discussion. The high churchmen are not all of one mind about it; and, if we may judge from a remark of Dr. W. R. Huntington's on the floor of the Convention, the broad churchmen are also divided. The reverend deputy was understood to say that his views are almost identical with those of the Bishop of Maryland. Only the low churchmen are a unit, and their agreement doubtless proceeds from their traditional hatred of Rome. If the question were of a foreign mission in Sweden, we fancy Mr. Low would sing a different tune. Because of the general interest, and the valuable utterances that have appeared in print, the Church is, we should think, more ready to come to a conclusion about the Mexican Mission than ever before. That it is so is in great measure due to the arguments of the Bishop of Maryland in the Board of Missions. In justice to that distinguished prelate it ought to be remembered that he did not profess or intend to enter into any full consideration of the questions involved. He realized that the time for that had not come. He did not feel within him a power like that which his brethren of Connecticut and Albany attributed to themselves, of settling the whole business in one or two Romaphobic speeches; or the not more unreasonable author of the Christian Ballads, in declaring the invalidity of Roman Orders. He was more thoughtful than they; and his perseverance in the course he had evidently marked out for himself, resulted in reserving the Mexican matter for the proper tribunal, by which, in time, it will be rightfully settled. Perhaps the Convention of 1895 will not be unprepared to meet the issue. At all events, it is the Convention that must sooner or later judge and decide it. The vote of the Board of Missions settled nothing as to principles. It only showed that whatever members may have thought about the merits of the case, they were unwilling to involve their trust funds in any complicity with their opinions.
