run-test gives gcc error: math.h not found (installation on Linux Mint 18)

Hello,
I am trying to use ocropy. I installed and downloaded every needed thing.
when i launch run-test i get the following message

pynative/cccd32009099f8dade0fe6cd205bf188.c:2:18: fatal error: math.h: No such file or directory

Your Environment

gcc (Ubuntu 5.4.0-6ubuntu1~16.04.4) 5.4.0 20160609

  Python 2.7.12

• Git revision of ocropy:
  Last version
• Operating System and version:
  Linux mint 18

That looks strange, because you don't need normally gcc for ocropus.

Can you write the complete output message and the command you entered?

ocropy does need gcc (in ./ocrolib/native.py).

Not finding math.h is weird.

Have you build-essential installed? libc6-dev should have the math.h headers.

Maybe try adding -lm to gcc call in ./ocrolib/native.py.

-lm solved. Thank you for your hint. I'm trying to read old spanish manuscripts. Do you believe i can go on with this library or will it be too difficult for me as i am not a python programmer?

After the installation is now working there should be no need to change the source files any further, i.e. for using ocropy you don't have to be a programmer (some familiarity with the command line might help).

The weird thing is that -lm should be in the gcc call anyway, being given as the default libs kwarg.
