itslearning achieves ISO 27701 certification

We spend a lot of time talking about what quality looks like in edtech. Strong pedagogical tools. Great workflows that support teachers in the way they actually teach. Useful AI. Intuitive interfaces that help students navigate. But underneath all of it, there is a prerequisite that does not get enough credit: the people using your platform must be able to trust you with their data.

The font on the screen matters

Teachers make hundreds of decisions every day. Most of them focus on helping students learn: who needs extra support, what needs to be explained differently, and how to keep the class engaged. Something as simple as the font used on screen can influence how easily students read and understand content.

Font selection will be available across itslearning by the end of June. Administrators can set a default font for the entire site, while teachers and students can choose their preferred font if this option has not been restricted through profile settings.

Create content with the redesigned Page

If you create course content in itslearning, you will likely use Page or Note today. We are bringing these together into one tool. Page becomes the common way to create and structure content, with an updated interface that works across devices.

Class Course: A Simplified Learning Experience

A Class Course is a new course focus in itslearning that simplifies the student view while keeping the tools teachers need for planning, assessment and communication. Teachers can group several subjects, projects or themes into a single itslearning course, which makes navigation easier for classes that study multiple subjects together.

It sits on top of the standard itslearning course, allowing teachers to use the full feature set while giving students a simplified view with fewer menus and buttons, organised around images and clear subject labels.

It has now been eight years since the European Union began applying a landmark piece of legislation for data protection in the region — the General Data Protection Regulation (better known as GDPR). It remains one of the most comprehensive data privacy and security frameworks in the world and continues to influence legislation far beyond Europe.

Since its introduction in 2018, GDPR has been shaped and clarified through regulatory guidance, enforcement decisions, and court rulings across the European Union and the European Economic Area.

In this context, it is useful to revisit some of the key concepts introduced by GDPR and consider how they apply today. In this piece, we look at one of the central roles defined by the regulation — the Data Protection Officer (DPO).
