A big focus of this year is to drive openness and engaged collaboration between the New Zealand Python Community and the Python New Zealand Committee – so we are delighted to announce our new initiative… (borrowed with love from the 'Python Software Foundation') https://lnkd.in/egsAB5pM

The CFP for PyCon AU 2026 (a.k.a Kiwi PyCon West Island) closes soon If you’ve been sitting on a talk idea, this is it – final hours to submit to PyCon AU 2026. First step in the invasion plan: infiltrate their conference. Talks, workshops, posters. All of it. CFP closes 29 March AOE (midnight Monday evening for most of you reading this). Everything you need: https://lnkd.in/ge5rBJQT Worth reading the proposal guidelines and anonymity guidelines before you hit submit. And if your topic fits a Specialist Track, flag it. A few things worth knowing if you’re on the fence: 1. Your talk doesn’t need Python on the slides. It just needs to be relevant to people who use Python – that’s a wide net. 2. PyCon AU actively supports first-time speakers. You don’t need to have done this before. 3. A conference talk is genuinely useful on your CV right now. Go submit the thing. For New Zealand. For the cause.

Kia ora whānau, Grace here 💛 So… who’s heading to Kiwi PyCon this weekend? This Friday–Sunday (21–23 November) the Python community is taking over the Wellington waterfront at Shed 6 — such a stunning spot, by the way. I’ll be floating around, soaking up talks, learning from people way smarter than me, and probably overthinking what snacks to bring (classic). Can't wait for talks by Benno Rice, Joelle Maslak, Richard Littauer and catching up familiar faces Simon Merrick, Chelsea Finnie, Danny Adair, Tom Eastman, Frank Keating and the rest of the amazing Python crew. If you’re coming too, please come say hi — I’m always keen to meet more Python and tech folks, especially those on their learning journey like me. Here’s the community Discord if you want to join the kōrero or find people before the event: 👉 https://discord.python.nz Let me know — I’d love to connect IRL! Ngā mihi, Gracie 💛🐍✨
