I like traveling a lot more than my fiancé does, which means we ultimately probably won't be doing it all that much 😛. I expect to be taking a road trip once or twice every year, but no farther than 800-1,000 miles away usually. If anything, she'll appreciate an extra bathroom break. My apartment is like 2-3 miles from my office, but I'm working from home during this pandemic, and almost all the stores I usually go to are practically within walking distance of my place. At the end of the day, range alone isn't a compelling issue for me. That being said, I thought the LR had a few extra features that the SR+ doesn't? All-wheel drive could come in handy if I go somewhere snowy. I live in the Nashville area rn, where we only get a dusting once or twice a year, but I very well might road trip somewhere up north. I also thought the LR has fog lamps, and the SR+ doesn't? It occasionally gets really densely foggy here in the mornings, since the nearby lakes can generate a ton. Heated rear seats also sound nice. Ultimately, if you have a LR, are you glad you got that instead of the SR+? If you have an SR+, do you wish you got an LR?

I'm not all that concerned with trade-in value for my current car. I just kinda wanna get rid of it tbh. It was my starter car, it's served me well for years, but me and my needs have outgrown it. Regardless, I don't anticipate having an issue buying/leasing either a Model 3 or one of the future cars today or in the future. I have considered what would happen if Tesla doesn't deliver the car they talked about at Battery Day in 3 years, and I don't think I'd mind leasing or even maybe buying a newer Model 3 or equivalent then. That being said, my fiancé and I very well might be moving to Europe 3 years from now (give or take a year or two, depending on what happens in our lives), so the leasing length might line up well with that, anyway. Either way, I appreciate your advice
I'll send her another email to make sure either way, but this is the specific Q&A where she said that:
Me: I know I tried out the autopilot when I test drove it a couple weeks ago, but it seems like the site advertises that full self-driving does more than just the autopilot. Obviously I’d still be paying attention and doing the regular “mess with the steering wheel lightly every once in a while” thing it requires, but my understanding of it is that the full self-driving package can handle basically all the tasks of driving me from the highway on-ramp to the highway off-ramp, including speed control, lane management, navigation, etc, assuming I tell it where I’m going. Is that correct?
Her: That is absolutely correct, and the BETA software for this capability was just released and coming on all new 2021 models.
TL;DR: Can I trade in my current car with Tesla if I want to lease a Model 3? Also, thought on getting Standard Range + vs. Long Range?
I currently own a car that's almost 23 years old. My grandparents gave it to me when I was a teenager, and nowadays, it's kind of a POS. It runs generally pretty well mechanically, but other than that, it's sorta falling apart. I have no interest in hanging onto it, and beyond that, I don't really have a need or want to have more than 1 car. Given that, I'd like to trade it in whenever I get a get a Tesla in the near future
I know I want a Model 3, but beyond that, I'm on the fence on if I want to buy it through Tesla Lending or if I want to lease it, and if I want a Standard Range + or a Long Range. I saw the Battery Day address a few weeks ago, where Elon said that Tesla will have a $25,000 fully self-driving car on the market within 3 years, which sounds like exactly the kind of thing I'd want. Given that a Model 3 lease is 36 months and that's exactly the timeframe that Tesla is looking to launch the other car they talked about, I'm thinking I might want to lease a Model 3 now and buy the $25,000 car in 3 years. If I do that, though, would I be able to trade in my current car when I lease my Model 3? Would that be a financially sound thing to do?
Also, if you have any thoughts on whether or not it's worth it to pay the extra $9,000 for the Long Range model over the Standard Range + model, I'd love to hear them
