Hi there!

My name’s Robin – I’m an engineer by training turned pragmatic contemplative who’s been into meditation since 2013, and teaching about practice and Dharma since 2020.

If you’re looking for someone to talk to about your practice you might be in the right place! I’d love to support you wherever you are on the Path if I can, or refer you out otherwise.

I spend most of my retreat time in the Pragmatic Dharma community with my mentors Tucker Peck and Upasaka Upali – if you know them or the eSangha folks you’ll be right at home, and if you don’t I’ll be excited to hear about what your meditation world is made of.

The way I think about 1:1 support is more like “coaching” than “teaching”, meaning the practice is doing the work and I’m here to support you in whatever way I can, helping you broaden your perspective and balancing your mind and approach.

It’s also person-centric, meaning there’s no One True Way and I encourage figuring out what works for you and starting from your own actual experience to get gradually deeper insights.

A non-exhaustive list of things I might be a good fit for:

  • getting feedback and accountability in your practice, checking in with a teacher regularly
  • insight practices (into each of the 3 marks, dependent origination, vedana, mind… the field is wide!)
  • integrating practice into daily life, and in general integration work
  • building emotional clarity
  • getting a grasp on right effort, letting go of excessive striving and frustration in practice (if you’re a typical TMI practitioner, you might know what I’m talking about!)

Some things I don’t teach:

  • though I have a little experience with them, I don’t teach jhanas
  • meditation systems others than Insight Meditation, Therevada buddhism or pragmatic dharma-adjacent (for example, the various Tibetan traditions)

A few things that might be relevant about me

I spent 10+ cumulated months on retreats – a third of which with Tucker Peck and Upasaka Upali and almost all of them in the theravada/early buddhism tradition. I started deeper practice with a few years of The Mind Illuminated, before opening to wider perspectives.

Some strong influences are Tucker Peck and Upasaka Upali, Bhikkhu Analayo and Leigh Brasington. Though I really enjoy detailed epistemics, my favorite Dharma book is A Still Forest Pool on Ajahn Chah’s teachings – simple, always bringing back to direct experience and to insight into the three characteristics.

I did my teacher training program with Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach, and shadowed retreats with Tucker & Upali. I’m also really into relational practices and sometimes facilitate Authentic Relating/Circling groups.

You can read more on various trainings and my favored styles on my profile over here.

I’d be happy to talk – feel free to schedule a free 30-min call or just write me at [email protected] to have a preliminary chat and see if I can help!

I have learned a lot thanks to Robin, who is very pedagogical. His teaching has allowed me to be more serene in my daily life, and to build solid foundations for my meditation practice. Many thanks to him!Jean-Baptiste
