Durable carbon removal

Algae waste, transformed into climate action.

We turn invasive sargassum that chokes Caribbean coastlines into biochar — locking carbon away for 1,000 years.

About

From a Caribbean problem to a planetary solution.

RubisCO2 is a global, tech-fueled movement against climate change. Our kickoff: arming Caribbean communities to flip their growing sargassum headache into biochar — the heavyweight champ of carbon dioxide removal. From slimy foe to planet-saving gold, we are just getting started.

Problem

Millions of tonnes of sargassum suffocate Caribbean coasts every year.

Process

Modular pyrolysis reactors built for smallholder communities.

Outcome

Biochar that locks carbon away for over 1,000 years.

Technology

Pyrolysis, explained simply.

Pyrolysis is the controlled thermal conversion of biomass in the absence of oxygen. Sargassum is heated in a sealed reactor — with no oxygen present, it cannot burn. Its carbon is transformed instead of released.

1 · Collect

Sargassum is harvested from Caribbean beaches before it rots and releases methane.

2 · Pyrolyse

Our modular reactor heats the biomass to high temperature in a sealed, oxygen-free chamber, producing biochar and syngas.

3 · Sequester

The resulting biochar is embedded in concrete and asphalt — locking the carbon into durable infrastructure for over 1,000 years.

Permanence · MRV

1,000-year permanence.

Our biochar is undergoing verification through the Isometric Registry — the most rigorous standard in carbon dioxide removal. Every tonne is then permanently sequestered in concrete or asphalt.

The Tlacuache Project

Our first deployment is in the Riviera Maya, where sargassum is an environmental and economic crisis. We work hand-in-hand with the Municipio de Solidaridad and local partners to turn that crisis into climate value.
