    We're aware of scenes of large gatherings today at some licensed premises in Whitstable. We deplore this and are working with the police, and using government regulations, to determine the action we may be able to take as the licensing authority.

    Canterbury City Council, through a unanimous vote of councillors at tonight's Full Council meeting, has declared a climate change emergency and set a target for the council to reduce its carbon emissions to net zero by 2030.

    Some great news to announce today - we have secured a deal with Travelodge to provide up to 57 rooms to protect homeless people and rough sleepers during the coronavirus pandemic. Work to begin accommodating people will begin today. Full story: news.canterbury.gov.uk/coronavirus

    Normally, empty car parks would be disastrous for our seaside towns on a day like this. But not today. This was the scene at Gorrell Tank and Neptune car parks this lunchtime. A tiny number of cars parked in total. #kenttogether
