When the news all seems tumultuous and grim, love this insight from War and Peace - more relevant than ever.

It feels like she taking political communication to a whole new level. Simple, practical, grounded, authentic - just fabulous connection with real people living real lives.

Meanwhile, in NZ: Our Prime Minister just popped her toddler to bed and has pitched up on the couch in a sweater to do a #covid19 Q&A, as the country enters its first night of lockdown.

How many royal commissions have been triggered by the work of Four Corners over more than five decades? Just remarkable, sustained investigative reporting of the highest quality. Journalism with consequence.

Not just a remarkable service for Australians at home - the ABC’s international TV service is bringing outstanding bushfire coverage for Australian travellers and expats. Only the ABC can do this - a treasured asset.

Such a straight-talker, Dr Chant. You know she is working around- the-clock with her team and is so concerned at the current risk and the challenges ahead. Great professionalism and integrity.

Those outraged by Tom Gleeson just aren’t old enough to remember Gold Logie winner Norman Gunston. He ran a marvellous campaign. #Logies

A remarkably divided nation when you look at the national two party count - just 30,000 difference in 7.3m counted.

Ten years since we lost the intrepid storytellers: Paul Lockyer, John Bean and Gary Ticehurst - on assignment for the ABC at Lake Eyre. Much admired, greatly missed. Love to family, friends and colleagues.

Having studied these over the years - the ABC's growth and sustained online engagement is remarkable. Not just the audience - but how long they stay and how frequently they return. An indispensable part of Australian life.

Two things that have exhausted the nation this week: 1. Canberra 2. Book Week costume creation. Thanks to all the mums, dads, teachers and kids who have made thousands of book week celebrations look so wonderful.
