WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!

Clash Issue 132 - Hayley Williams
One of the most storied alt figures of her generation, Hayley Williams has done it all. Leading Paramore across the globe on the Eras tour at the behest of Taylor Swift, the band were playing to some of the biggest crowds of their lives.
Yet something different was moving inside her. The band’s long-time major label deal was expiring, and for the first time in her life Hayley Williams was truly independent, and finally able to unpack some of the experiences which had both propelled and distorted her life for two decades.
Returning to her Nashville home, the songs simply poured forth in an unrelenting torrent of powerful music. Defying music industry norms, new solo album ‘Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party’ is quite simply phenomenal – deeply personal, continually creative, it is perhaps her most intimate and pointed project to date.
CLASH spoke to Hayley Williams for a revelatory cover conversation, in which she broke down the ways in which being in the public gaze pushed her to discard her femininity, and how she’s ready to choose herself for the first time in her life.
As she puts it: “Making this felt like I was coming full circle… getting back to the beginning of what made me fall in love with music.”

Rejjie Snow Is The Fourth Face Of CLASH 130
When Alex Anyaegbunam aka Rejjie Snow first emerged he was a shadow-cloaked, prodigious teenager, drip-feeding songs on SoundCloud to viral acclaim. Since then, he’s spearheaded a golden generation of Irish talent, expanding and defining his lyrical craft in the process.
A rapper with revelatory gifts, Rejjie Snow’s astonishing 2024 album ‘PEACE 2 DA WORLD’ became a moment of graduation, grappling with adulthood, and fresh responsibilities.
Opening up to CLASH in an intimate cover conversation, Rejjie Snow speaks about the responsibilities of manhood, the gestation of creativity, and the enduring influence of MF DOOM.
“It’s the natural progression as you grow from a boy to a man,” he tells CLASH. “It’s about being present as those changes happen and being there for those who are there for me.”

Björk Is The Third Face Of CLASH 130.
A fusion-focussed avatar for cultural synthesis, Björk is a singular creative force. The past decade has really put her through it, but music and aesthetic experimentation remains at her core. Re-rooting herself in her native Reykjavik, Björk’s work has broken fresh boundaries, blurring the lines between visual art, tech innovation, and her avant-pop streak.
Vastly ambitious concert film Björk: Cornucopia brings together the recent threads of her work in one tantalising place. A Petri dish of innovative possibility, it’s a jaw-dropping fusion of technological capability - a sense of theatre rooted in 19th century traditions, and Björk’s inherent gravitas.
The performance summarises her potent 21st century album arc, while also synthesising some of her permanent aims into one glorious feast of eye-bursting creative vitality.
Granting CLASH a rare audience during a visit to London, Björk opened up about her processes, while passionately defending her DIY foundations and re-affirming her commitment to tomorrow’s art today.
She told us: “That’s the energy that drives me – I feel like I’m growing. It’s not fame, it’s personal growth.”

Mabel Is The Second Face Of Clash 130.
Marking close to a decade of pop hitmaking, Mabel’s televised ascendency was one for the books. In the span of a few years, she garnered multiple top ten hits, platinum records and a prestigious BRIT award. Yet, behind closed doors, the singer was unsettled. Jaded by the pressures of an unforgiving industry, stifled by a media machine muzzling her creativity, Mabel stepped away to seek respite.
After a self-imposed reprieve, Mabel is braced for a re-introduction. Her new chapter is a point of transition; the last few years has seen the singer hone her songwriting, better able to distinguish between her unfiltered voice and the imprint of others. Now, closing the chapter on her twenties, Mabel isn’t chasing an ideal or a trend, she’s surrendering to her own off-centre impulses.
In this candid cover conversation, the London songbird excavates her peripatetic upbringing, reflecting on her family’s enduring influence and the relationships she’s cultivating on her own terms.

JENNIE Is The First Face Of CLASH 130.
Over the last decade, the doe-eyed Korean singer found superstardom in the world’s biggest girl-group. Now, charting her first tangible steps as a solo artist, JENNIE is diverging from the path of candy-coated maximalism to a more expansive realm.
Reshaping the K-pop biosphere in her own image, JENNIE’s story is a counterpoint to the prevailing narratives of that sanitized world. The inaugural project on her own label ODDATELIER, ‘Ruby’ reflects a new era of experimentation, one teeming with left-field collaborators and ideas inspired by a grand sweep of international genres.
In this revealing cover conversation, JENNIE dissects the metamorphosis at the heart of her album, whilst reckoning with her trainee upbringing, the demands of band activity, and her own aspirations. This is JENNIE unleashed.

Mothers In Music – Logic1000
A CLASH & Pioneer DJ By AlphaTheta curated series. Whether that’s as tastemakers, DJs and producers, or behind the sound desk, dance music simply couldn’t function in its modern iteration without the involvement of femme genius across the generations.
But those experiences haven’t been without challenges. With International Women’s Day upon us, CLASH and AlphaTheta have aligned to spotlight mothers in music, platforming their lives as they attempt to open up conversations in club culture.
Logic1000 has been through some changes. From her teen years in Sydney, Australia through to her current base in European techno redoubt Berlin, her journey has been almost never-changing. Recently, though, the producer – real name Samantha Poulter – went through the biggest change of all: motherhood.
“I feel like I’m way more conscious as a parent,” she tells CLASH over Zoom. “I feel like before, I was kind of sleep-walking through life and just going through the motions. But now I have this deep sense of care and responsibility.”
A transformative change in her life, motherhood has coincided with some decidedly dark news headlines; a matter of days before our conversation, the fraught German election takes place, with far right forces emerging bolstered. “Something’s shifted in me,” she points out. “Motherhood has opened up my heart in a way that I can hardly described. I feel big feelings now, and I am embody them.”

Mothers In Music – Jayda G
A CLASH & AlphaTheta curated series…
Whether that’s as tastemakers, DJs and producers, or behind the sound desk, dance music simply couldn’t function in its modern iteration without the involvement of femme genius across the generations.
But those experiences haven’t been without challenges. With International Women’s Day in sight, CLASH and AlphaTheta have aligned to spotlight mothers in music, platforming their lives as they attempt to open up conversations in club culture.
For once, fans were dumbstruck. When Jayda G held court at her Mixmag Lab last year, she had a point to prove. One of the best DJs around, she’d long since become accustomed to pushing past boundaries – and clearly relished this next hurdle. Appearing behind the decks while heavily pregnant, she consciously pushed back against a taboo in club culture, sparking a colossal online conversation in the process.
“Women are gonna have babies!” she laughs over the phone to CLASH. “We’ve been doing it since the beginning of time. It’s not that deep! I think it’s really important for people to see that, and for it to be normalized.”
“I want it to be visible,” she insists. “A woman who is pregnant can still DJ and be out there… I don’t know – there’s still such a stigma.”

Cult Skate Documentarian Ian Reid’s New Photobook ‘Positive Tracks’ Captures The Incredible Ugandan Communities Saving Mountain Gorillas
This April, cult skate documentarian and internationally exhibited photographer Ian Reid unveils moving new photobook Positive Tracks that documents the strength and resilience of the remarkable communities of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Uganda.
The photography in Positive Tracks reveals the only the way to protect endangered species is to empower the vulnerable communities living around them. In 2019 the last census recorded only 1,063 mountain gorillas left in existence today. Reid’s photography tells the human stories that have made gorilla conservation possible – the reformed hunters, beekeepers, wardens, local schools, and football and running clubs who are all essential to the mountain gorillas fragile but extraordinary ecosystem.
Also profiled in the book is Young Simba FC, a local football club changing young lives. Sam Mugisha fled Rwanda in the 1990s as an 8-year-old refugee. Sam talks in Positive Tracks about how training in the club for 20 years changed his life. Sam eventually found sports sponsorship which allowed him to finish schooling and even attend university. Sam has continued this legacy by founding Running With Sam. These images in Positive Tracks are a testament to the power sport has to transform communities around the world.
