All-Around BAAP Points Database

Download here

Steve Daniel has put together a points database for all the years that BAAP
points have been tracked. I believe the spreadsheet includes all *ARG* results
going back to 2003. On the Lists tab you can generate reports of total
points/cashes/money won, which can be filtered by year and/or game type. You
can also generate reports of total finishes for any paying place (i.e., 1st,
8th, 17th, etc.) (also filterable by year and/or game type).

At this time, there is no formal Code of Conduct, but at a minimum it is
expected that all who participate in our tournaments and other activities
will observe the rules of our host poker room, be respectful of all poker
staff and players, and not be openly critical of other players. Abuse of
staff or other players will NOT be tolerated. Bad beats happen. Players get
lucky. Dominated hands lose. Deal with it. Our goal is to create a pleasant
experience for all participants.

Chris Mecklin put together a comprehensive BARGE Trivia book available here
as a PDF. It has not been updated in a few years, but
it has an amazing amount of detail. —ts4z

Virgin Queen History

For your first BARGE, you’re a Virgin. Traditionally, there’s a “virgin queen”
nominated from the virgins, typically the first one who posts to the mailing
list in a given batch.

Here’s some more context.

The Beginning of the Virgin Tradition

From: eae...@aol.comhatespam (ADV Beth)

Newsgroups: rec.gambling.poker

Date: 11 Jul 2002 23:18:57 GMT

Subject: A Brief History of the BARGE Virgins

[posted & emailed to the BARGE mailing list]

I started playing poker in 1998 and discovered RGP shortly thereafter. Since
it was summer, RGP was filled with threads regarding BARGE. I felt like such a
newbie that I didn’t feel comfortable taking a spontaneous trip to Vegas to
join the group, but I read the threads with interest.

By the next year, I had already gone to my first RGP event (ESCARGOT ‘99) and
was eager to attend my first BARGE.

BAAP Points Table

Per Stephen “Crunch” Daniel, the creator of the BAAP (BARGE All-Around Player) calculation,
otherwise known as PeterPoints (and previously known as “Crunchy” Points):

There is a lot of interest by a few people in being able to know where they
have to finish in the final few event of an ARGE event and/or a specific
tournament to win either the event or the over all BAAP top spot. The attached
spreadsheet show how many points will be won for finishing in Nth place in a
tournament with M players. The table can be adjusted for number of people
qualifying for points by cashing, saves and deals included. You can change
both the % paid and the extra beyond the percent.

Current Rulebook as PDF Note that this has to be manually updated, so this
may be slightly out of date.

The current rulebook is maintained via the scripts and source here:

Before we had a PDF rulebook, we had a website that was a source for the book.

The BARGE Welcoming Committee is a informal group of BARGErs who help
first-time attendees (read: Virgins) get acclimated, meet people and just
generally have a great time! They can be identified by some sort of special
thingy on their name badges - but most likely, they’ll find you if you don’t
find them!

Here are some articles written by members of the BARGE Welcoming Committee:
