    Agriculture, trade and innovation are taking centre stage at the 32nd National Agricultural Show in Jinja, Uganda. While we're currently inviting applications for GLOBALG.A.P. certification support through the EU-funded SPS Uganda Project, CABI and partners are also engaging with farmers and other stakeholders at this year's show. Running from 26 June to 5 July 2026, the show provides an opportunity to showcase practical pest management solutions for crops including mango, avocado and tomato - whilst also allowing visitors to learn more about the SPS Uganda Project. EU SPS Project Manager, Dr Caroline Nankinga, told Gateway News Uganda how CABI and partners are working to reduce export rejections and improve access to EU markets.     📢 Call for Expressions of Interest: GLOBALG.A.P. Certification Support in Uganda The EU-funded SPS Uganda Project, led by CABI with MAAIF Uganda, HortiFresh Association Uganda and COLEAD.link, is inviting eligible micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Uganda’s fresh fruits and vegetables (FFV) value chain to apply for support towards GLOBALG.A.P. certification. Successful applicants can receive: ✅ Up to 50% support for certification costs ✅ Technical assistance and training on Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs), Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and GLOBALG.A.P. certification requirements ✅ Support to strengthen compliance and access high-value export markets, including the EU Eligible applicants include FFV producers, producer organisations, exporters, and nucleus farms with outgrower schemes. 📅 Application deadline: 30 July 2026 🔗 Link to EOI form: https://ow.ly/iYzQ50Zjhgn Female-led enterprises and youth-owned MSMEs are especially encouraged to apply.     We were delighted to welcome members of CABI’s Member Country Executive Council to Silwood Park on Monday 29th June for an immersive Open Day experience. The visit provided an opportunity for delegates to gain deeper insight into CABI’s strategy, programmes and impact, including a behind-the-scenes look at our laboratories and discussions with our experts. Offering opening remarks was CABI’s Executive Council Chair, H.E. Dr Fatou Bensouda, who summed up the spirit of the day: “I can say with confidence that in-person gatherings such as this Open Day are invaluable. They strengthen connections and allow us to explore further collaborations.” The day reinforced the importance of partnership and shared learning as we continue working with our Member Countries to support food security and sustainable development around the world 🤝💚 📸 Have a look at some highlights from the day below.

    🌍 The CABI BioProtection Portal continues to expand its global reach. At the 14th Development Consortium Meeting, members reviewed progress, including the Portal's expansion to 54 countries, now covering 77.4% of the global biologicals market. The meeting also highlighted new evidence from India showing that farmers using the Portal were 94% more likely to adopt biopesticides than those who did not. Read more: https://ow.ly/U7XY50ZeFxR
