Your next customer may be researching their options right now and never see your name. Not because your site is broken, but because the search has moved. More buyers are asking ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Claude for recommendations before they ever open Google, and those tools only surface businesses they can actually find and understand. If you have no idea whether you show up in those answers, you are not behind on a trend. You are missing a channel where buying decisions are already being made. The businesses that get named in those responses will quietly win the work the rest never knew they were in the running for. This is worth checking before your competitors do. SEO, paid, email, social, all running at once, and still nothing is landing. When that happens, the instinct is to assume each channel is underperforming and try to fix them one by one. Usually that is not the problem. The problem is that none of them are connected. Running every channel is not the same as having a strategy. Without a plan underneath them, the channels pull in different directions, the spend leaks, and you end up busy and broke at the same time. This is the spray and pray pattern, throw enough out there and hope something works, and it rarely does. What works is slower and far more effective. Get clear on who you are actually for and the problem you solve, then run small, deliberate pilots to see what resonates before you pour budget into it. Read the results, keep what lands, cut what does not, and adjust. If everything is running and nothing is sticking, the fix is not more activity. It is a plan the activity can finally point at. A marketing report can look impressive and still tell you almost nothing. Charts trending up, impressions climbing, engagement glowing green, and yet none of it answers the only question that matters to your business. The trap is that vanity metrics feel like progress. Likes, clicks, and reach are easy to grow and easy to celebrate, which is exactly why they fill so many reports. But a number going up is not the same as your business getting healthier. The real test is quieter and harder to dress up. Is your top line or bottom line actually moving. If revenue is growing alongside the marketing, the activity is earning its place. If the dashboard is thriving while your revenue sits flat, the report is not informing you, it is reassuring you, and those are very different things. When the metrics look great but the bank account does not, that is the signal to have a different conversation. If an AI tool is already recommending your business, that is a real win. It means you did the work to get indexed while most of your competitors were not even thinking about it. Worth a moment of credit. Then comes the part most people miss. That position is not a finish line, it is a lead. AI search is exactly where traditional search was years ago, which means the businesses that ignored it are now waking up to it, and they are coming for the same visibility you have. Indexing is not a one time achievement that locks in. The models change, the competition sharpens, and a spot you earned can quietly erode if you treat it as done. The mindset that protects it is simple. This is not set it and forget it. It is set it and keep building, so the lead you have today is still a lead a year from now. Behind every scholarship is a student who put in the work long before anyone noticed. Last year, that student was Daljit Kaur Khehra, our most recent Kevin Doherty Scholarship recipient. In her words, the scholarship gave her more than financial support. It gave her the confidence to pursue her Bachelor's degree after her Advanced Diploma, taught her to tell her story and present her work more effectively, and opened doors to mentor other emerging design students. That is the kind of momentum a little support at the right moment can create. It's also why this award exists. The $1,500 Kevin Doherty Scholarship supports a graduating high school student or a current college or university student at a Canadian institution pursuing graphic or communication design, including digital illustration, web design, UX, copywriting, marketing, and communications. It honours Kevin Doherty, a designer and developer who spent over 15 years on our team and believed design was always about solving real problems. This year's applications are open now. If you're ready to take your next step, or you know someone who is, we'd love to see them apply. Apply here: https://lnkd.in/gtrs8Q_T Applications close July 10, 2026.

Most agencies pitch the same outcomes. More leads, more revenue, a website that converts. When everyone is promising the same result, the promise stops being how you choose. What actually separates a good partnership from a frustrating one is harder to put on a slide: do you trust these people, and will they tell you the truth. Chemistry is not a soft factor here. The agency you click with is the one you will be honest with when something is not working, the one who will push back on a goal that is not realistic instead of nodding along to win the deal. That back and forth is where results come from. An agency that only validates you is not a partner. It is an order taker. So when you are choosing, go in clear about your expectations and let them either confirm what is achievable or challenge it. The ones worth working with will do the second when it is warranted. For twenty years, getting found meant ranking on Google. One search box, one game to win. That is quietly no longer true. People now split their searching across ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Gemini alongside Google, often choosing the one that feels fastest for the question in front of them. The risk is not that Google stopped mattering. It is that optimizing only for Google now covers a shrinking slice of how people actually look for what you sell. If your visibility strategy assumes one engine, you are showing up in one lane while your buyers spread across several. The work is no longer ranking in a place. It is being findable across all the places a decision can start. Most businesses have not adjusted for this yet, which is exactly why there is an opening. A few months in, a new website that is not generating leads feels like a build problem. Usually it is not. The design can be clean and the site can still sit quiet, because a website only converts as well as the thinking behind it. There are three questions worth being able to answer before you blame the site: who are your clients, who are you actually trying to attract, and what specific problem are you solving for them. If those answers are fuzzy, no amount of polish on the page will fix it, because the words, the structure, and the calls to action have nothing sharp to point at. Visitors land, fail to see themselves, and leave. Get clear on the audience and the problem first, and the site finally has something to convert around. You can do everything right at the top of the funnel and still lose the deal in the first ten minutes. The traffic shows up, the form gets filled, the phone rings, and then the lead sits. By the time someone responds, the prospect has already moved on to whoever picked up first. This is the most expensive leak in most businesses, because you have already paid to generate that interest. The lead is not low quality. It just went cold while it waited. And the fix is rarely hustle. Asking a person to stare at an inbox all day does not scale and still misses the after-hours enquiries. What works is a follow-up system that responds instantly, every time, so no paid-for lead slips through. If you are not sure how fast your leads actually get a reply right now, that is worth knowing. Some students show real creative talent long before the right opportunity finds them. The $1,500 Kevin Doherty Scholarship was created to recognize one of them. Awarded annually, it supports a graduating high school student or a current college or university student enrolled at a Canadian institution and pursuing an education in graphic or communication design. That can include digital illustration, web design, user experience, graphic design, copywriting, marketing, and communications. The scholarship honours Kevin Doherty, the second employee at NVISION, who spent more than 15 years here. Kevin saw the world in colour, shape, and form, and believed design was never just about aesthetics but about solving the problem in front of you. He led with that philosophy, blended design with development in a way few could, and earned international recognition for it. This scholarship continues what he valued: backing creative people who are ready to do meaningful work. To apply, students need to submit a personal statement of 500 words or less on why they are the ideal candidate, a high school or post-secondary transcript, a letter of recommendation from an educator, instructor, employer, or coach, and three high resolution portfolio samples in PDF format with the instructor named for each project. If you are a student ready to take this step, or you know someone who is, applications close July 10, 2026. Learn more and apply here: https://lnkd.in/gtrs8Q_T
