The Metropolitan Opera

Two popular operas from the Met’s award-winning series of live cinema presentations—Lehár’s The Merry Widow (2015) and Verdi’s Aida (2025)—return to theaters this summer.

The Met’s 17th Summer HD Festival features five thrilling performances from the company’s Live in HD series of cinema transmissions. The free showings run September 2–7, with approximately 2,500 seats set up in front of the opera house each night.

The Metropolitan Opera mourns the death of mezzo-soprano Mignon Dunn, an invaluable artist and dear friend for many years. Over 35 extraordinary seasons with the Met, she sang 65 roles in 652 performances and was and admired and beloved figure to both the public and her colleagues.
