Bill Cook was a Canadian ice hockey player known as "The Original Ranger" who served as the first captain of the New York Rangers, led the team to two Stanley Cup championships, and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1952.

William Osser Xavier Cook was born on October 8, 1895 in Brantford, Ontario, Canada, son of William Cook (1866–1922) and Edith Lally (~1867–1936).

Bill died on May 5, 1986 in Kingston, Ontario, aged 90. He was buried in Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Kingston, Frontenac County, Ontario.^[2]
