Imageblackvengeance @ 04:35 pm: Hi everyone! I just joined this community...

Well I'm a Catholic and have been all my life but I only found Jesus properly less than two years ago. Anyway, the reason I'm posting is that I've felt God call me help to bring other young Catholic close to God. In order to do this, I've decided to make another community on LJ (I already have one called Imagecatholicteens) with the sole purpose of teaching young Catholics (and by young I guess I mean sort of under 30) more about their faith.

For anyone who isn't Catholic who might be reading this, I want everyone to know I have nothing against anyone non-Catholic, it's just easier to make this solely for Catholics because it makes it less diverse and it's my denomination.

Anyway, what I'm basically asking is this:

Is there anyone in this community who feels confident enough about their Catholic faith to help out in a new community which will serve as a cross between an e-zine and a forum?Collapse )

Thank you!

Imagedanceofmidnight @ 01:02 am: Hi everyone,
Right now I am asking for some help from any of you who can. If you can't help physically (I suppose that is the word for it) then I would love it if you could pray for me.
Right now, I am having some problems. I was planning on going to Thailand with Global Expeditions and spread the word of God this Summer.
But then I got nominated by someone to travel with People to People-a program about education and helping others from other countries get together and realize we are all the same, and to help stop wars. I have now been chosen to go to Europe for three weeks this Summer. I could go on and explain what People to People is, but that would waste a lot of your all's time.
But the problem is, the P2P trip costs over $5,500 and the Thailand trip costs around $3,500. If I can manage time wise, I would be able to come back from Europe and go on to Thailand.
I'm here to ask for any of you to contribute any size of a donation-even $5 or more or less would be really wonderful and could help me get to Thailand to spread the word of God. If I have other Christians and other churchs help me to get to Thailand, that would be wonderful. Both of these trips are extremely important to our world, but I believe Thailand should come first. THIS is what's important. Spreading God's Word.
For my address to donate or for more information, please e-mail me.
Thank you so much, even if you can't donate and I understand many of you cannot, please pray that I can save enough money to get to Thailand! Spread this plea around, please!
Thanks again and God bless all of you!

Imagecelticdreamz @ 06:49 pm: Christian Art Website
In the spirit of Christmas, I would like to share with everyone this wonderful Christian art website. The artwork was done by my mother a few years ago, but she could never get anyone interested in publishing her work. So, a few months ago I made a website for her art. Both of us have been surprised and disappointed in how little attention our site has been getting. I've emailed a link to various church ministers as well as major Christian websites, but without much success. If you know of anyone who would be interested in this art, please share this link with them as well.

Thank you.

a_2nd_chance @ 01:15 pm:

 Dear Family in Christ,

My name is Megan Brauckmann, and I’ve seventeen years old.  I’ve felt the call to share the gospel of our Lord and Savior.  In the summer I have an opportunity to go on a 4-week trip to Thailand with Global Expeditions.   This culture needs the love of God and is full of striking contrasts: apathetic atheists stand beside zealous Hindus while Buddhist temples tower next to Internet cafés.  We’ll be partnering with Gospel for Asia and working with seasoned native missionaries in Thailand where Buddhism thrives.

James 5:16 says, “The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and wonderful results”

I’m praying and trusting God for full support- about $3,500.

400 people who would give 10 dollars would sponsor me to reach the lost for Christ.  Please pray about the following statistics and for me and if you feel led to support me in prayer (or to give) e-mail meg.brauck@gmail.com

2.2 billion people have never once heard the Gospel.  The faith which we so often take for granted is unknown to 1/3 of the world.

2 billion of those live within the 10/40 window.
1.67 billion people have absolutely no access to the Gospel.  No Bibles, no churches, no missionaries, no media, no leaflets, no Christians. Nothing.
29,200,000 people die and go to hell every year.

90,000 people die every day without Christ, and slip through our fingers into hell. Line them up, and they form a line nine miles long. Every day.

50,000 of these people had never heard the Gospel during their lifetime.

35,000 of them had no way to hear the Gospel during their lifetime. Every second and a half, someone dies having never heard the Gospel.

In the time you've been reading this entry, already close to fifty of them have died.
                             And there goes another one.
This is the state of the world that we are living in.
If it doesn't break your heart, consider whether you have one at all.

Let me quote WorldChanger:

The 10/40 window is an area between the 10N and 40N parallels, which covers northern Africa and southern Asia. 77% of the world's unreached live within this area, and 95% of those beyond the reach of the Church live there. 3.1 billion people live in the 10/40 window, and 2 billion of them have not heard the Gospel. Here are some statistics for you. I hope these numbers break your heart as much as they do mine:

As the Church of Christ, we have the responsibility and privilege of reaching these people. And here in the west, where we have such abundance of resources, we have the biggest responsibility. "To whom much is given, much is required." So how are we doing? Well, to put it bluntly, horribly. The Church has been around for 2,000 years. Yet Coca Cola has been around for a little more than 100 years... and more people in the world know about Coca Cola than have heard the Gospel of Christ. A little ridiculous? Does anyone else see a problem here besides me?? Perhaps we just don't understand the scope of this. Let me put some more numbers to that for you:

3,000 of the world's 6,800 languages do not have the Bible translated into their language.
380 million people speak those 3,000 languages.
1,700 people groups of 10,000 or more are considered unreached.
There are hundreds of smaller groups, bringing the real total to around 2,300.
3 billion dollars is spent on the Christian entertainment industry in North America every year.
0.02% of the income of televangelists would fund enough missionaries to complete the Great Commission within four years.

The Western Church has dropped the ball
. God blessed us with resources and finances, hoping that we'd use them wisely to finish the Task that He's given us. Instead, we squander that money on entertainment, on prettier buildings, on bigger toys, on nicer clothes, and on Bibles that we don't even read. Something is wrong with the picture here. We're told in II Peter 3.12 to 'look to and hasten' the day of the Lord. Hasten means 'to speed up' or 'to facilitate an earlier result.' In other words, we as the Church determine how long Jesus has to wait before He can come for His Bride. Matthew 24.14 clearly tells us that until the Gospel has been preached in all the world [the Greek word being ethnos, which means 'people group'] the end will not come. But instead of ushering in the return of Christ, we the western Church are inadvertantly becoming the bouncer at the door of the club, stopping Him from retrieving His Bride. Instead of accelarating the Plan that God has for the world, we're dragging our feet and delaying it.

AND BILLIONS ARE DYING BECAUSE OF US.

For the same reason that Paul wrote in Romans 15.20: "And so eagerly striving to preach the Gospel where Christ was not named, so that I should not build on another's foundation." Paul refused to settle. After all the journeys and mission trips Paul had been on, he refused to sit back and relax. Why? Because the Job wasn't done.

I can never get enough.
Never will I be satisfied or content.
Never will I sit back and say, "enough."
Never will I relax, let up or calm down.
Never will I withhold that which burns inside me, consuming me, and compelling me to go.
I refuse to do nothing about the unreached billions
My life for the Gospel.
