Imagemisquoted: Book 50!!!!!! The DaVinci Cod

Image No, not a typo. The DaVinci Cod, and other illustrations for unwritten books was my fiftieth book, woot!

Ok, so my last book was supposed to be Postmodernism for Beginners which is all well and good, but I had a bad, no good, horrible day on Saturday, and most of my day was wasted. And then I had a migraine today, Sunday.

So, I was going to finish the book but found myself with friends to celebrate NYE earlier than we'd planned, and I couldn't very well just sit by myself and read.

So Imagebenevola, whose house I'm at, got her Sekrit Santa gift, and in it was the book The DaVinci Cod, which is short and funny and cute and I decided to read it as my fiftieth book.

It's sort of cheating but hey, I made my own rules, so there. :P

Plus, I'm allowing myself to count it because I read half of Postmodernism for Beginners and half of Reading Lolita in Tehran and finished neither. So that counts as a whole book, but I didn't count either of them, of course. Not sure if I'll count them next year or maybe count them together as one book. I'll worry about that later. :)

For now, I've met my goal of 50 books in 2006. And I'm ready for 2007 with books borrowed from Imagecpk, one book borrowed from Imagebenevola, and some book ideas from her too. And two books I just got for Christmas. :)

Everyone in the other room is playing Guitar Hero II, dinner's in the oven, and I'm off. :)

Happy New Year!

Imagesarahmichigan: End of year wrap-up

Image This year, I not only made my goal of 50 books but surpassed it, with a total of 51 books.

Book #51 was "The Persian Pickle Club" by Sandra Dallas. The story is about a group of women who are in a quilting group together in the 30s, all living on farms during the Dust Bowl days. Mostly, it's about day-to-day life for these women, but there's a murder mystery, too. The newest member of the club fancies herself an investigative reporter, and she stirs up trouble when she investigates the murder of the husband of one of the other "Pickles." It's a relatively short novel and a quick read-- quite fun.

The books I've read this year, and some statistics:Collapse )

Not only did I read 51 books, but I reached my secondary goal, which was to keep my count of “unabridged books on CD” to less than 50 percent of my total. I had no goals for re-reads versus new reads, and I ended up with only one of 51 books being a re-read.

For ’07, I’m upping my total goal to 52 books. The books on CD really make commuting and long car rides more fun, so I’m going to continue to count those, but I’m going to limit myself to 23 books on CD for 2007.

I’d like to commit to MORE re-reads this coming year, which shouldn’t be hard. I’m thinking no more than five, though. I’m also limiting myself to three self-help books.

Congrats to all who made it, and good luck to those who are doing this again in 2007!

Imagemisquoted: The books I read this year.

Image Here is a list of the books I read this year. I'm still reading the last one, but I've got three days of vacation to do it, plus right now as soon as I log out. :)

Imagemisquoted: Book 49: Night Before Christmas (Muahahah! is this cheating?)

Image I read The Night Before Christmas because it's seasonal and I like it and it's sitting here on the mantle and my friend's house where I'm working. :)

So that's Book 49!

One more to go. :P

Image Dude, Where's My Country? by Michael Moore.
Liked it very much. Read it a few years too late though.

And Book 25 is Getting Things Done so I'm caught up. Two to go, yay! :)

Imagemisquoted: Near the end! :)

Image All of the books that I've started but not finished, I'm only a bit into. So I'll start 'em over for '07. :)

The only book that doesn't fall into this catagory is one book that I'm more than halfway through and I just don't like it. It's interesting and well written but just not interesting to me I guess. I feel bad about that but I just don't want to read stuff that I don't want to read, you know? And it's okay if I'm not all that interested in some topics even if I feel I should be. </taking>

Anyway, I'm nearly done :P
