Ok, so my last book was supposed to be Postmodernism for Beginners which is all well and good, but I had a bad, no good, horrible day on Saturday, and most of my day was wasted. And then I had a migraine today, Sunday. So, I was going to finish the book but found myself with friends to celebrate NYE earlier than we'd planned, and I couldn't very well just sit by myself and read. So It's sort of cheating but hey, I made my own rules, so there. :P Plus, I'm allowing myself to count it because I read half of Postmodernism for Beginners and half of Reading Lolita in Tehran and finished neither. So that counts as a whole book, but I didn't count either of them, of course. Not sure if I'll count them next year or maybe count them together as one book. I'll worry about that later. :) For now, I've met my goal of 50 books in 2006. And I'm ready for 2007 with books borrowed from Everyone in the other room is playing Guitar Hero II, dinner's in the oven, and I'm off. :) Happy New Year! ~Heidi Sun, Dec. 31st, 2006, 10:49 pm

Book #51 was "The Persian Pickle Club" by Sandra Dallas. The story is about a group of women who are in a quilting group together in the 30s, all living on farms during the Dust Bowl days. Mostly, it's about day-to-day life for these women, but there's a murder mystery, too. The newest member of the club fancies herself an investigative reporter, and she stirs up trouble when she investigates the murder of the husband of one of the other "Pickles." It's a relatively short novel and a quick read-- quite fun. ( The books I've read this year, and some statistics:Collapse ) Not only did I read 51 books, but I reached my secondary goal, which was to keep my count of “unabridged books on CD” to less than 50 percent of my total. I had no goals for re-reads versus new reads, and I ended up with only one of 51 books being a re-read. For ’07, I’m upping my total goal to 52 books. The books on CD really make commuting and long car rides more fun, so I’m going to continue to count those, but I’m going to limit myself to 23 books on CD for 2007. I’d like to commit to MORE re-reads this coming year, which shouldn’t be hard. I’m thinking no more than five, though. I’m also limiting myself to three self-help books. Congrats to all who made it, and good luck to those who are doing this again in 2007! Fri, Dec. 29th, 2006, 01:47 am

So that's Book 49! One more to go. :P Wed, Dec. 27th, 2006, 04:16 pm
Liked it very much. Read it a few years too late though. And Book 25 is Getting Things Done so I'm caught up. Two to go, yay! :) Wed, Dec. 27th, 2006, 04:13 pm
The only book that doesn't fall into this catagory is one book that I'm more than halfway through and I just don't like it. It's interesting and well written but just not interesting to me I guess. I feel bad about that but I just don't want to read stuff that I don't want to read, you know? And it's okay if I'm not all that interested in some topics even if I feel I should be. </taking> Anyway, I'm nearly done :P Wed, Dec. 27th, 2006, 11:09 am
