This is a new journal but I am not new to LJ.com. I am 30 years old. Talkative , open and, free spirited. I am very sensitive and I care a lot about my friends. Including my online friends. I take my online life as seriously as my offline life. I like to help my friends and be there for them. So if you are not looking for someone who is a little over bearing at times, then I'm not the right person for you. I am looking for long time companionship , friends. I enjoy chatting and long emails. I tend to write a person several times a day. I can sometimes message a person up to fifty times a day. I know that sounds crazy but I do and I'm not sure if I can really help myself, if I get "stuck on you", or attached to you. I just really like to talk and try to be there for my friends. Just be aware that I can be a lot though for most people. I do have some health problems, along with issues with paranoia and stress related health problems. Nothing that can't be worked out though with understanding and compassion though. I am looking for someone who just wants friends and who can still put time in an online relationship like they do with their offline life. I know that's asking a lot and for most people online life is like a second hobby for them. For me it's one of the few ways I can really socialize with people though. I am really not that picky, so long as we can work through issues and that sort of thing. I just want friends but good friends and friends who won't just leave me because we are having problems. Thank you. -Sissy 30th June 2012i'm misheymo or carmen the baroque purl if you prefer. i have multiple sclerosis and a host of psych disorders. right now i'm mostly writing about my asl class and AA. i'm not into fanfic--can't stand reading it. my favorite movie right now is the shawshank redemption. i love to knit, study anthropology, painting and getting tattoos. check out my user info and see if you like me and then friend me with a message and i'll friend you! 17th January 2012Hello, my name is Rebecah. I'm 25 years old, and I am currently diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. My journal is relatively new, so there aren't many entries on it. I had Another LJ before this one. I'd love to add some new friends who I can relate to and they can relate to me. Though you I'm not just looking for friends who have the same diagnosis, I have also dealt with anxiety (still do, as of lately), and eating disorders. I write mainly about therapy, my life, and things I like. I try to be positive and not be all doom and gloom. Feel free to check out my profile (my journal is set to friends only). I love my pets and other animals, I love music, and I like watching movies and TV shows that I have on DVD. I like getting comments, of course, but I don't expect to get comments on every post. I am not the best with advice, and am not much of a talker(mainly because I don't always know what to say and get nervous about saying something stupid, but I do try to comment as much as possible. Please feel free to add me, if you do please comment on my friends only page or on here. I really hope to hear from some of you soon. Current Mood:
11th January 2012Hi, I was on LJ previously in like 2006, but left and only returned a few days ago. I am trying to expand my circle of friends, so thought I'd introduce myself here and see if anyone wants to connect. I am 25-years-old and live in the Netherlands. My disabilities are blindness, autism, and mental health conditions (dissociative identity disorder and PTSD). I also have hydrocephalus, but that is completely asymptomatic right now and has been for over twenty years. I reside in a mental institution long-term and study psychology at Open University (distance learning). My hobbies include writing, surfing the Internet and reading non-fiction. My journal is mostly about my life with mental health problems, but other stuff will be covered too. Most of my entries are friends-locked, but I have a very liberal friending policy. Basically, I add anyone who friends me except if you're a troll or a spammer. So I hope to get to know more people. 3rd December 2011This user may be in serious danger in her(?) living situation. She lives in Idaho, United States. I do not know what kinds of resources there are in her area. Does anyone here have any suggestions? (Don't respond to me here. Go to the original entry.) 25th August 2011Does anyone know of a calendar web site (along the lines of, but other than, yahoo) that plays nicely with Internet Explorer's "accessibility" features of text size, zoom and custom color schemes? 18th April 2009Hi, my name is Annie and I was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at birth. I haven’t had the best of luck with meeting others with Cerebral palsy and other disabilities so I thought I would give this community a shot. I’m twenty-two and currently live in Cleveland, Ohio with my darling boyfriend and his family. I have lived in Cleveland for about two years now but still spend a lot of my time enjoying the city. I grew up in Florida so the weather is somewhat of a drastic change but I love it here. Feel free to check out my journal although, most of the public posts deal with crafts and such. Check out my profile for things that I am into. 27th March 2009

21st March 2009Hi all, I just created a group for friendly discussions and activities, intending for it to be a jerk-free zone where people can have fun and talk about really interesting topics related to identity and philosophy... and even just silly stuff like celebrities and photo posts. It's pretty relaxed and free form. I hope it's okay for me to post this here, I don't want to spam you guys, just trying to get some more people to join and get my community off the ground. ![]() thedinnercrowd...A discussion & stamping community. Thanks! 10th August 2008FEEL FREE TO DELETE IF INAPPROPRIATE. Hi Guys! I just created a community at glbtq_disabled. It's for members of the GLBTQQIA community to make friends and discuss being gay as it relates to being disabled in any way, be it physical, mental, learning, etc. Anyone, gay or straight or anything in between, is welcome to check it out and join. Be sure to tell your friends! Thanks, Caitlin 22nd June 2007and i suffer from munchausen by proxy syndrome. i am 34 years old and have been taking care of children all my life. it is my passion. but work hasn't been easy since the trial (in which is was acquitted on a technicality, lord have mercy on my soul). i love listening to music and dancing :) my favorite shows are 'charm school' and 'my super sweet 16'. i would love to find some similarly disabled people to add to my list ... i'm very open-minded. i do not like brown people though. 19th March 2007Hello all, I’m a student at Napier University writing an MSc dissertation on teaching methods for dyslexics in the world of IT. I’m really interested in how people have found higher education compared to secondary school, and in particular dyslexics who are learning to program, especially in object-oriented languages. How well has it been taught to you? Is there enough support for you eg: extra time in exams, more accessible textbooks etc? Do you have any suggestions on how teaching might be improved in this area? Maybe a change in focus is needed? I’d be really grateful if you would fill in my poll here; LJ comments are also welcome, and anonymous commenting is on. All results will remain anonymous whether you participate under an LJ name or not. I’d also appreciate any detailed experiences if you have time: please email them to me at ljs56 at cam dot ac dot uk. Thank you so much! Current Mood: busy
7th March 2007I just created my journal today and I'm crossposting this everywhere. I have a journal for my old friends and I made this one to make new friends. Then if I really get along with a friend at this new journal, I'll add them to my more old journal. '154hopperav' is the address of "Taxi Driver". You know that movie? I'm not going to say much about myself accept that I don't want to be friends with Bush supporters or people under the age of 18. Other than that, I'l friend pretty much anyone. But there are a few things about me you might like to know. I"m agnostic, bisexual, a slave to cats, a bit of an artist, disabled with migraines and depression, live in California, USA, and am 36. I'm big into comedy too. I'm also taken. What I post is usually pictures of cats and day to day life from my perspective. 23rd January 2007Cross posted everywhere Hello everyone. My name is Andrea. I am a mother to a Deaf child, sister to someone who has Cerebral Palsy and is a FIERCE disability right activist, and I myself have ADHD. I am also a Student at Antioch University Seattle in a BA completion program with a class assignment that I would love for you to be a part of. My class is centered around how individuals can use their personal stories to create social change. For my project, I would like to gather stories of experiences of medical care from people in the disabilities community. I plan on creating a booklet or zine of related art, photography, and primarily your stories to then pass on to the University of Washington's department of disability studies ( http://depts.washington.edu/chdd/ ). It is my hope that by offering your experiences, future medical care providers will have a better understanding of their impact when working with future patients. Because of the often sensitive nature of these stories, anonymous contributions would be more than welcome. I have set up an account for those who would like to add their stories anonymously. Please see the community for more information. Please also let me know if you have any additional ideas for the direction of this project. This community is part of a six week project. It is my hope that well after the project itself is completed, the community will continue to be a place of support and sharing Image Description: Banner with text that reads "A story for change. What is your story?" With the image of the disabled parking logo in yellow on black pavement with the word "Change" writen underneath. Beside the symbol is an open book with the text over it that reads "A community project for positive medical care." astoryforchangeFor more information, visit our community page.
