            I’m a student at a small college in South Mississippi, studying Foreign Linguistics and History. I love culture, art, photography, make-up, video games, anime, and various acts of creativity. I work in a supermarket as a cashier, it’s a horrible job, but it could be worst. In my spare time I go to concerts and conventions, being able to travel is what I would like to spend the rest of my life doing.

            I used to do various student modeling for portfolios and I adore the art of life’s beauty. It’s so rare to find others who actually stop to admire that. I stop because I had to care for my grandmother, she suffered a painful death from cancer in 2009 and I am just now fully getting over that, so you may hear some pretty down-things.

Hi, I'm Shane. I'm 24 and male, looking for a job right now, trying to sort out my life post-major relationship transformed into long distance, growing sour relationship, as well as post-financial crisis.

I'm interested in trying out adding whoever would be interested in being my friend I guess (because that's all adding people from addme communities is, a trial), but I'm particularly interested in meeting somewhat local friends. As such, I live in the San Antonio, Texas area. I often go up to Austin and have a lot of friends in San Marcos and New Braunfels, and various smaller towns between. If you want to try being friends, let me know, but especially if you're familiar with any of those towns.

I like a lot of music, but mostly I like first wave screamo and early emotive hardcore, indie rock (particularly older albums by the band Modest Mouse), and various EDM (Electronic Dance Music) genres. I grew up on hardcore/punk, though my musical taste is a lot more diverse now.

I'm a liberal, but I'm not a hippie or a bleeding heart. I'm an ex-idealist who has fallen into cynicism -- an ex-radical socialist who now is pretty sure that mankind is just fucked and I have no idea what the long term, ultimate solution is. I do know that if capitalism is to persist, it should be limited, checked, and regulated, and some form of state/established body of people should utilize taxes to fund social programs that enhance the quality of society. Lately, I lean towards balance and Centrism. Social democracy sounds good to me, if libertarian socialism is just too flawed an ideal to actually work out. I realize there is much to learn from capitalism, just as there is much to learn from socialism. An extreme of either is probably a bad idea. All that said, I don't write about politics all the time. That just gives you a good idea about where my mind has been.

I'm an Atheist, and I am a very firm in my knowledge that there is no such thing as any god. I believe in science and logic. I will not be afraid to say this in my personal journal, and while I don't care what you believe, if you have a problem with reading of my atheism from time to time, you may have a problem adding me.

Let me say that I have no expectations of you to align with my music, my ideas about religion, or my politics, though it could be cool if you did. No one I know really likes half of my music and if the country were to erupt in civil war, it is likely that my best friend and I would be on different sides. So... As long as you can tolerate my ideas, you're good. I can tolerate yours -- most likely. I'm very open minded, but you probably have to be somewhat open minded (and certainly not uptight) in order to not be offended by me.

When I was in school, I studied psychology with a minor in writing. I classify as a junior, but I didn't finish and I'm not currently enrolled because I am poor and have financial issues that interfere with focusing on school. It would be nice if one day I could finish school. I'm very scholarly and academic, despite this.

I like anime, RPGs, and nerdy stuff like that.

I'm trying to lose weight I gained while living with the girl. Making a bit of progress, but not quite there.

I always write with complete sentences, proper spelling and grammar -- typos aside. I sometimes consider myself an artist of words. Occasionally I post poetics, but not too commonly.

I'm very honest and for real on my journal, though it is just about exclusively friends only these days with occasional exception.

I used to live near Detroit, but I just recently moved about 40 mins north and it's like, in the middle of no where. Very different from what I used to. I live on a dirt road, and have a pond in my backyard ..haha, but it's not so bad.
I'm a barista at Starbucks and I absolutely love it.
I'm also a full-time student. I dunno what for yet. :/ I'm indecisive and change my major every other day.

Hey all!

I'm getting re-started on LJ after being gone for awhile. I need some friends! I haven't posted a whole lot yet- just a couple of entries- but I promise that the posts are coming. They'll be about random things- maybe my day, my frustrations, something awesome that happened, a night out, my favorite bands, hanging out on the local music scene, the people I love, etc.

I am a single girl, 30, and work full-time with kids. On the weekends, and sometimes during the week, I am immersed in the local music scene. I also write about local bands occasionally for a local publication. I love my people, music, makeup, shopping, glittery/sparkly things... but I also have a tendency to spend alot of time hanging with the boys, especially musician ones.

Some of my favorite national bands include 12 Stones, Rascal Flatts, Kings of Leon, Boys Like Girls, Nickelback, Taylor Swift, LeAnn Rimes, Green Day, and some others that just don't feel like popping into my head right now. I love movies that center around the music world, like Almost Famous and Coyote Ugly. I also love movies like Sweet Home Alabama, Serendipity, and Tortilla Soup. My very favorite tv show is Army Wives right now, but I also tend to watch shows like Glee, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, Desperate Housewives, and Brothers and Sisters.

I will be switching my journal to friends only soon, just because anonimity from those I actually know is good sometimes.

I am just coming back to LJ after a long hiatus due to Facebook sucking me in and becoming all-consuming. I still use FB, but have decided that I miss having this outlet. I'm looking for some people who will read my entries, comment when they have something to say that's worth saying, and above all, not be judgemental of me or my thoughts/ramblings. My journal is friends only, and for a good reason. Ask and I'll tell you about it. Therefore, if you want to read anything you'll have to add me first. Then if you don't like me or my writing, you can always unfriend me. Here's some random stuff about me:

-38 years old. Still young enough at heart to be able to relate to peple in their 20's, but absolutely not ANYONE under 18.
-Classic cartoon fan. Nothing (almost) made after the mid 1980's. and definitely NO ANIME!! My wife likes anime, and I can't figure out the appeal for the life of me. All the characters look the same. I can't tell what show she's watching by looking at the characters because they all look aloie. Same pointy chin and HUGE round eyes. Asian people don't have round eyes, so why are they drawn that way? I just don't get it.
-Music geek. I listen to a wide variety of music but there are a few things I will not listen to or discuss. Techno, MOST rap, that garbage that passes for R&B these days, "House" music, boy bands, pop music, that crap that passes for Punk Rock these days are among those things. The music I like the most is classic rock, jam bands, jazz, orchestral music, old school country music, classic R&B (ie early Motown, the Philly Sound, etc.), some of my favorites can be found listed in my interets on my info page. I don't care if our musical tastes differ. I do, however, talk about music a good bit, and it will help if you are at least familiar with something outside the top 40.
-I write about a wide range of things, from random musings to political rants, to music, what I did today, things that bother me, etc. I do the occaisional quiz or random meme if I'm bored enough. They are usually behind a cut to save your friends page.
-I am a democrat, but I am not as liberal as most democrats are.
- I am from New York. As such I am passionate about my sports teams and the rivalries thereof. Therefore if you are a Red Sox fan or a Dodgers fan, you're going to hate me during baseball season. Period.
-I hate people who TyPe LiKe ThIs or ay "ur" when they mean "your" or "you're" or use the number 2 or 4 in place of a word. If you do that, don't add me. It bothers me no end, and I WILL call you out on it for being either uneducated or just plain lazy.
-I am a good listener when you have something you want to talk about and I will always offer advice if you need it, and I'm not one of those people who gets insulted if you don't take my advice.
-I am looking to get to know people, not just add people to a list like a name collection. If you are looking to add me to a collection and have no intention of interacting with me, don't bother.

I dunno what else to say, so if you want to know more, just ask.

About me: I'm happily married. I have a daughter named Maddie who will be 2 in April, and another daughter due on June 9th. I'm nice to people around me most of the time, unless they're not nice to me. I like to meet new people and read about their lives, since most of the time everyone else has a more interesting life than mine, lol. I hate the snow, but I live in a state where all it does is snow in the winter. I like being outside in the fresh air (except when it's snowing). I usually spell well, but most of the time I don't have a clue where a comma should or shouldn't go. I tend to overuse them. I like music, but I rarely have the time to catch up with the latest bands. I'm have a very busy life, yet I always find it difficult to write about my day..lol. hmm, what else? let's move on to things I don't like...
Dislikes: Sardines, salmon, sushi, horror movies. I don't think there are a whole lot of things I don't like.

I'm Saz, I'm an Australian, just out of high school.
My journal is a mixture of RL, fandom and commentary on whatever TV show/book/movie/song is holding my attention at that time.

I'm a great big geek. I'm a bibliophile and logophile. I'm something of a grammar nazi too, which is fun. I love to read until my eyes are red. Some of my favourite reading material includes Harry Potter, LotR, Markus Zusak, Lewis Carroll, mythology, Gone with the Wind, Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy, and whatever else I find lying around that seems worth reading. Actually, having finally done with school, I've been looking to join the library and read all those books that everyone should read once in their lives. And all the books people have recommended to me and stuff.

On a related note, I'm a slasher. Not the murderer type, the fanfic type. I lurk in a bunch of fandoms including HP, Doctor Who, Star Wars, Buffy. I also like a bunch of rarepairs and tiny little fandoms (Lano&Woodley, Hot Fuzz, other stuff).

In my movies and TV shows I like... comedy - Australian (GNW, Spicks&Specks, old Glass House eps), Britcoms (Fry&Laurie, Blackadder, Black Books, Monty Python, Boosh, Coupling) and stand up... scifi - Doctor Who, Star Wars, SG-1, Buffy, Angel... snark - House, Daria... and dramarama - NCIS, QAF, Bones

Music wise, I'm into all sorts. I'm trying this thing where I'm not a music snob, so I'll listen to anything once, and my tastes span genres. Some of my current passions are: Ben Folds, Tripod, Judy Garland, The Living End, Lemon Demon, Elton John, showtunes, ABBA and Muse.

Wow, this was longer than I intended.

Anyway, I've only got about 3 active friends on my flist right now, and I'd very much like some more. Add me?

I have a name, but in my life it has proven rather fruitless. You can may call me Jude, as many do, or Blaine, as most do (taking the lead of my senile grandmother). He is a lively 2 ½ year old boy that was just recently diagnosed with Hypophosphatasia.

Hypophosphatasiais a rare inherited metabolic disorder of decreased tissue nonspecific alkaline phosphatase and defective bone mineralization. The disease comes in one of five forms, perinatal, infantile, childhood, adult, and odonto hypophosphatasia. Depending on the severity of the skeletal disease, there may be deformity of the limbs and chest. Pneumonia can result if chest distortion is severe. Recurrent fractures can occur.Teeth may be lost prematurely, have wide pulp (inside) chambers, and thereby be predisposed to cavities. As yet, there is no cure for hypophosphatasia and no proven medical therapy. Some medications are being evaluated. Treatment is generally directed towards preventing or correcting the symptoms or complications.

I have put in an application for the Shriner's Hospital in St. Louis, MO for Jacob and we are awaiting approval. Dr. Michael Whyte, M.D. is the medical director of the Center for Metabolic Bone Disease and Molecular Research at Shriner's Hospital-St. Louis was recently awarded for his furthering knowledge about metabolic bone diseases. The Center was established to bring together clinical and experimental scientists involved in the study of bone and mineral metabolism. The Center for Metabolic Bone Disease and Molecular Research founded in 1983investigates, treats, and diagnoses more than 100 rare bone diseases such as genetic forms of rickets, including hypophosphatasia and X-linked hypophosphatemia.

The reason why I am contacting you is to ask if there is any help that you can provide for us financially; we would be forever grateful. We have a goal of $14,000 to cover all medical expenses, current and expected. We need funding for: all the expensive rare tests that were done before Jacob was diagnosed, travel expenses to/from the Shriner's Hospital in St. Louis, financial support for any testing that the hospital doesn't cover, dentures/partials for Jacob due to his missing teeth, funding for 6-8 visits per year will be needed with a specialized pediatric dentist and orthopedic doctor, hopefully finding a cure, and more unforeseen clinical expenses.

We don't know what the future holds for Jacob; or how painful this disease will be for him (only time will tell), but we are trying our best as parents to make his life as "normal" as possible.

after doing a minor friends cut to my already very short list, i've realized how bare and boring my friends list is and i need more journals to read! i consider my life to be pretty interesting, usually crazy, sometimes a little ridiculous.

the basics; i' have a son, about to be 1 in 2 weeks. i'm 19 myself, dating my high school sweetheart, i live in venice, fl and i'm mainly a research manager dealing with real estate and home renovations. pink-haired and pierced, and still getting adjusted to a new town and my newly-crawling boy who is now getting into everything. my entries are not all about my boyfriend and son or work, i do other things and have other experiences. even after motherhood, i still go to shows and have a romantic relationship with my boyfriend and am still social. i keep up with my shit and i'm into music, movies, beauty (cosmetic; makeup, hair, skin), books, video games, and some other potentionally nerdy shit. i post at least 3 times a week and i post pictures every once in a while of myself, my boys or cool shit.

Musical interests I'm an 80's hair band fan. I love that stuff. I like oldies also. The Eagles, Bread, and Creedence Clearwater Revival are some of my favorite groups. I also love Nickelback, Hinder and Buckcherry. I have a wide variety of music I listen too.

I complain quite a bit. I'm not the most interesting person in the world. I talk about my husband and kids a lot. I post pictures sometimes. I post snaggable graphics that I make when I get bored. I make several updates in a row sometimes. I do surveys occasionally. Basically, I'm just an ordinary woman who is in love with her family and looking for more friends. I just recently made my journal friends only but I'd love to allow new people into my safe space so I can get to know them and possibly become great friends. :)

I finally got around to leaving GJ after 5 years and now need friends here.

I'm 18. Freshman in college. Live in SoCal. I can listen to almost any type of music [except bluegrass] and love sports. I have a considerable amount of road rage for people who can't go the speed limit and get aggravated when somebody asks the same question at least three times or doesn't use common sense. Family and religion are two things that aren't priorities to me, at all. In fact, I'm atheist. I think hippos are adorable and want to own a zoo [not literally, but it would be pretty awesome if that was possible]. I'm not much of a beach person, even though the beach is within two miles of my house. I don't get along with sand. I attend therapy for depression but have cut that back to once a month now. Eventually I would like to work as a Child Protective Services Specialist.

I was decent at updating my GJ frequently and just enjoy reading about what other people go through.
