There's been a psychopath living downstairs who waits until he thinks I am sleeping, then he bangs on the wall directly below where I am. This has been going on for over 4 years. It has been injurious to me because I am disabled by CFS. That's the backstory.
The owner of the house threw up his hands, because of this trouble, and decided to sell the house. (Now I must leave soon, which will be very difficult for me). He has the house on contract to be sold by a date in October. I am wondering if it is possible for him to break the contract?
I would prefer to buy the house than to end up homeless. I might be able to pay the same price as that offered. And, I am considering coercing the guy, suggesting I have been looking at a law suit for all the harm that he, and the management company, have allowed upon me. (I have a detailed log of these incidents from the man downstairs, my complaints, etc., covering years of abuse).
I am just wondering if it might be possible for him to break that lease, somehow? If not, I can quit this diversion and get on with packing. Note: I am Illinois.
(I'll be reposting this to some inactive LJ legal community).

What do you plan to do during the Coronavirus Apocalypse?
Vacation indoors? Join the Peace Corps? Cuddle up with Defoe's, "A Journal of the Plague Year"? Loot and pillage? Dine with zombies? Inbreed? Bake? Go to movies completely alone? Meld with a virtual reality video game? Sell candles? Say your prayers? Overdose on lysine and zinc? Become overlord of miscreant mutant scavengers? Sleep?- ?
I was meant to celebrate a work accomplishment with my best friend and her husband tomorrow, but she had to cancel (for completely understandable and valid reasons).
Any ideas of how I could celebrate instead?
I don't have a baby sitter so I can't have a big night out. But it would be nice to do something special to mark the occasion.
After putting up with snails in my main tank for a while I finally decided that I'd try a new substrate. So when it came time to clean the tank I did a complete tear-down and replaced the gravel with black aquarium sand. Things did not go well. A lot of details and a few pictures under the cut.( Read more...Collapse ) Anyone have any ideas as to what might be wrong? Is it the substrate like I've started to suspect? I've tried looking online and nothing I've seen has mentioned this stuff being dangerous. Something else that I haven't thought of? I tried to add as many details as I could think of but if there is any other info that you might need to help me just say so and I'll try to answer as best I can.
I know fish aren't like a dog or a cat but I still hate to bring them home and watch them die.
I'm recently engaged and one of the things I'd love is an engagement keepsake album that records memories of this time. My mom had one and I loved looking through it growing up. I just can't seem to find anything.
I'm fairly crafty but I'm not sure I want to pull together a scrapbook on my own. Do any of you know where I could find an engagement /wedding album like I've described?
Also, what is the one thing you discovered while planning your wedding that you weren't expecting? Any advice is most welcome.
More often than not, in a year in which the US holds a Presidential election, the winner is almost certain to be named as Person of the Year in Time. considering the magazine's requirements that the PotY be whoever "for better or for worse...has done the most to influence the events of the year", the question now lingers:
Even if Clinton wins the election, would that qualification still suggest that it would need to be Trump who claims the title?

Do expensive hotels have dress codes or anything that requires guests to maintain an image?
I'll be having what will surely be my one and only stay at a Hilton hotel at the end of the month, and I'm really curious about whether my usual attire of velvet and tie dye will get scorned.
