This community is pretty dead, but Id love to see it flowing again. Any ideas would be welcomed. Also, if you have applied for membership or written to me, it seems someone changed the email to some gmail account which I did not have the password for. That has been resolved. Please send any issues to me at babykins@livejournal.com Thanks!
I hope everyone is having a warm Christmas and look foward to seeing pictures of the kids!

[09 Feb 2005|11:41am] |
The last 2 weeks have been very busy for us and my ability to get online was just not possible. Things have settled down a bit so Im around more. Here is yoru chance. This is an open post for anyone who needs a new journal name added, was part of the community before and was deleted when they had temp deleted thier journal. Anything that needs to be take care of, please let me know here!!
I also have to mention, 2 days ago I got an email from a previous member. I will post all the details, but one of our members had a baby born in June. He passed away the other day from SIDS. He was crawling around the night before, acting fine and wonderful. Now he is gone. I will post her entire email when I get on my laptop later, but I wanted to make mention of this. Seeing I am a mother who lost a child to SIDS I understand this loss and its a moment you will never forget. Shes in my thoughts.

A recent post reminded me that I need to start testing out birthday cakes for my daughters 1st birthday! I'm ording a gourmet cake for the guests, but I plan on making my daughters. I want it to use applesauce instead of white sugar. Does anyone have any recipes for a cake like this that they've baked before?
Thanks!

Logan is going to be turning one on February 12th. I have no earthly idea what kind of party to throw for him. What have you done for first birthdays? Did you invite just family, friends and family or lots of people? And did you make the cake yourself or have it made?

Update on Kade. (Born December 13th)
- My big boy was holding his head up at birth, and he can now hold it up for a whole minute.
- He rolled over when he was 2 weeks and 4 days old. And again when he was 3 weeks old.
- He smiles all the time and sometimes resembles laughing. He smiles and kind of sounds like "heh heh"
- He weighed 9 pounds 7 ounces at birth. At his 2 week checkup he weighed 10 pounds. Our home scale says he is now 10 1/2 pounds.
- He is eating between 4 and 6 ounces during a feeding.
- He sleeps through the night only waking up once to be fed and changed and then goes back to sleep.
- Pictures here. Guest password is raabskinner.

I've got a couple of questions. My daughter Mallory is almost 7 months old. She eats about 5 8oz bottles a day plus breakfast and dinner. Is this too much? Everybody keeps telling me that I overfeed her. I dunno if maybe I am. She is a good sized baby...22lbs 7oz, but she was also a big baby to begin with 9lbs 2.4oz. So, I feel like I'm doing the right thing, but maybe I should be cutting back on her feedings...only giving her 6oz at a time. But when I do this, she always cries for more or she'll be hungry sooner. I'm just not sure what you all think. You are the ones that are going through this, not the people that are telling me these things.
Also, Mallory has a recurring problem with cradle cap. I use baby oil and a brush on her head everyday after her bath, but it doesn't really seem to help much. I know that they make special stuff for cradle cap, but does it really work? Is it worth the money? Just wondering if any of you ever used it or maybe if you have a home remedy or something. She doesn't have much hair, as you can see in her pics. I love bald babies!!HEHE
Thanks

| diaper question |
[09 Jan 2005|12:47pm] |
|
my little boy is 5 days old and so far every single time he has a wet diaper it soaks through his clothes. I have 2 different diapers that I've tried but none prevent him from leaking through. I'm not sure if I should try to buy a more expensive brand of diapers and see if that works..or is it normal for a little boy to pee through his clothes every single time? I'm having to do a load of laundry every day! Any one else have this problem? what kind of diapers is everyone using that seems to work for them? All info appreciated!!

| Ear infections! |
[08 Jan 2005|07:34pm] |
Thomas has really had a lot of ear infections so far this winter. They seemed to start really when he started daycare. Unfortunately amoxycillian (sp?) wouldn't take care of the infections and we had to move onto another antiobiotic. They even did a swab of his eye one time when he had an ear infection and pink eye to see what strain of bacteria we were dealing with. So in December he had ANOTHER ear infection, which we didn't really realize because he doesn't give us any indication that something is wrong. He doesn't cry, he doesn't pull at his ears, he doesn't wake up at night crying. It was just one night he was running a 103 degree fever so we took him in the next morning to the ped and yep, it was another ear infection. One ear infected, she said the other looked perfect. So we started a 12-day course of the special antibiotic and took him on Friday for a followup. Well guess what, his ear infection was really bad! Now the ear was bulging with pus and the other ear which wasn't infected was red and angry-looking also! What the heck! So we have to take him in for antibiotic SHOTS for three days in a row. And they're awful. It's a lot of fluid so they have to break it up into 2 injections, which 2 nurses do at the same time in each leg. So terrible... :( So he had his shots on Friday, again today and tomorrow since it's Sunday we have to take him to the pediatric ward at the hospital to have it done. And another followup appointment in 10 days, at which point they said they'll probably recommend putting him on a preventitive course of antibiotics for a while just to get us through the winter months and to get him a little older (he's 8 months old) This makes me sad that he can't seem to shake these, but the ped's are tring to avoid tubes in his ears. Why, I'm not sure, but they are. If this is one of those "superbugs" that antibiotics can't take care of, it's really frustrating.

Jayden usually goes to the "bathroom" every day.. or every other day. Well. He didnt go Wednesday..Thursday.. was going on Friday and still hadn't gone. Thursday night he let out this AWFUL scream. and wouldn't stop. It was terrible. He cried so hard he lost his breath. I took his temp. it was 99.6.. so i gave him some baby tylenol. And FINALLY he went to sleep. He was fine through the night.. Friday morning i said alright thats it.. he hasn't pooped im callin the Ped. He had seemed like he was trying and trying sooo hard to go. but just couldnt =( . So my nurse called me back and said since Jayden was over 3 months that he could have baby apple/white grape juice and that would help him pass his bowel movements. Well i bought him some.. and he <3'd it! o man. He cried when we took it away. So the woman told me I can give it to him between feedings 1-2 ounces at a time. everyday or whenever i wanted. I was wondering did anyone else give their babies juice that young??
On another note.. He has been SOOO fussy. Could It be that we were at Daddy's house and away from home?? I mean.. he sleeps in a bassinet at dad's and doesnt have his "usual" activities there either. Would that be why he's been soooo fussy? I really dont know! =( but its been terrible! im soo stressed .. work school baby babys father. everything! it's driving me crazy!
I went to work today from 9-5 and when i got to Stas' to pick up Jayden he was SCREAMING!... sweaty he was screaming so long.. and Stas was just laying there.. ERG! He makes me SOOO mad sometimes!
Ok Im done.. i was just wondering about a few things =) BTW:: Jayden did poop yesterday! =) oh.. did he ever! lol xposted in my journal

Aidan is comando crawling backwards. The doctor said a lot of babies crawl back before they crawl forward, so lordy lordy hes going to be on the move soon (eek!) He will be 7 months on Jan 12th which seems about the right time for crawling. I just think its going to be so weird for him to get around on his own, because for 7 months ive been his only mode of transportation. I still think its weird (incredibly amazing) to watch him pick up toys or push buttons on his play things. And for another kicker we moved from the baby bath to the BIG BATHTUB. i just said screw it and but the big sponge thing on the bottom of the tub and sat him in there. It went well, i was a little nervous, but he wasnt. the second he got in the bath he started splashing and giggling. I think im going to get the little inflatable ducky becuase my friend has one and she likes it, and i think it might make me feel a little less worried that hes going to knock his head or something. Anyhow i got the hubby to take pictures of his very first time in the big boy tub. Im just going to add that i was within a foot away at all times ready to catch him, i know in the pictures it seems like hes sitting there alone, which i would never do. ( Aidan loves bathtime!Collapse )
