Hi everyone. My name is Kelly. I'ma  noob to LiveJournal, so bare with me.  I found this comm. though, and I've got a question for the avid hair dyers. My hair is coloured jet black right now. All the way around. Quite frankly, I think it's dull but I don't want to go crazy bleaching it or anything. My hair is pretty fragile right now and is likely to fall out. Is there a color I can use, perhaps temporary that will show up over the black without having to bleach it??? Thanks.

I'd appreciate some help!
I'm about to dye my hair red with pink tips. My mom has finally allowed me to dye my hair again, but to make my life harder, she wants me to dye the already bleached part again. Now, this is easier said than done, as last time she didn't want it to be the hair on top, so she made me bleach...well, imagine you have a half ponytail. Now, this would be a lot easier if it was all the bottom I bleached, but no; the underside of the bottom if the half ponytail is to be left unbleached. So the layers of my hair go like this: Unbleached, bleached, unbleached. I could do it the hard way, by separating the unbleached and bleached bits strand by strand, but does anyone have a suggestion to make this easier?

Punk Colors
Those Who Use Punky Colors!

Hi everyone.. I'm new and I've used so much punky color, I'm surprised my hair doesn't naturally grow these colours. Anyways, I used the colour Flame for the first time and it's quite deceiving.. It turns your hair bright orange instead of bright red! Argh.
So back to the store I go.
And also if you want purple hair, don't go with punky color purple, because it comes out hot pink! I figured that out years ago. If you want nice dark purple hair, go with violet.. it's so beautiful you'll never go back. Honest!


If you love reds like I do, I recommend:
*Poppy Red
*Pillarbox Red
*Red Wine

Unfortunately the store I buy my hair dye from has run out of reds.. So I kinda look like a right divvy walking around with orange/blonde hair and my old faded pillarbox red hair from before.

Has anyone tried Rubine or Dark Tulip? How does it come out? Please let me know before I make another bad colour decision!

[EDIT: I bought Rubine. Someone told me that it comes out like a deep burgandy red. I found that intriguing.. so once it's dyed I will post pictures. I had a little pillarbox red left over to fix my bangs from the intense orange.. so it is somewhat red right now. After the rubine, it will look different.]

Herbatint Issues
Hey everyone. First post here, and asking for some help.

I recently bleached my hair to dye it purple. I'd been using Manic Panic, and really liked the colors, but hated having to dye my hair constantly to keep the color in. I then discovered Herbatint, which claimed to have a permenant purple dye! They have two, and I got the lighter one.

I dyed my hair with it last night, and the results were semi-disasterous. I know I spread it out evenly, but it didn't TAKE evenly, so I have bits of yellow bleached hair showing through. The parts that really took only took to an odd light shade of plum that looks almost gray-brown in most indoor lighting, and just a sickly kind-of plum in sunlight. It's like it just didn't TAKE well enough.

Also, it fried my poor bleached hair. Manic Panic is so gentle on bleached hair, but this stuff really fried it, though I'm thinking if I condition it really well with good replenishing conditioners in a few days it might soften up again.

So basically my problem is this: the herbatint darkened my hair a bit. Should I just give up and go back to Manic Panic and deal with the re-dying or should I just use the darker herbatint and try it again? Does anyone have experience with this brand of dye?

Also, I know that there are some normal brands (I think stuff like Herbal Essenses or Loreal or something) that have a dark plum color. I realize it wouldn't be so 'in your face' as Manic Panic, but it would be a sort of dark 'natural' purple, at least in the sun, right? Does anyone have any recommendations on a good brand for purple hair???

Any help is greatly appreciated!!! I've only been up a few hours and I'm already sick of this sickly half-plum half-yellow hair!

PS: My hair is shoulder-length, I have bangs, and my natural hair color is a darkish brown, though it has been bleached to a lighter yellow color for dying purposes (although now ti's sort of... purplish yellow. Ew.) I also have very very thick hair. In case this info is useful.

Multi-coloured goodness!!!!!
I did a lil dying this morning, mostly because I wanted to see what the colour looked like and partly for kicks. In addition to dying goodness, I also got two new earrings in my left ear. WOOO HOOOOOO!!!! Enjoy!
