Does anyone remember doing simple jump combinations in Mrs. Finizio's elementary/intermediate modern classes to the song, "Istanbul" by They Might Be Giants?
Because I do. And that song came on while I was working out today, and it just made me so smiley and reminiscent.
Sigh.
Have a good day, y'all. |

Kristen thinks that FYB should have a DDR partay.
I have a feeling that would be a BLAST. Every one brings a mat, if they have one of course, or something.
so we should set that up.
maybe after classes are over?
hmm? hmmmmm?
just an idea.
&& even if you don't play Dance Dance Revolution You can learn!

All Dancers Who Will be in Flint, MI at Some Point Over the Summer
I have decided to start taking small steps towards my dream of having my own company some day. I know it seems early, but in the dance world it's almost as if there's no such thing. This is my plan:
From June-August 2006, I will be working on choreography to be presented at the end of the summer. This project of mine, which is going to be called summerdance, is open to everyone who has had at least one year of training in modern dance. I would like to meet with all participants at the beginning of the summer to set up a schedule, and set a performance date. Rehearsal dates and times will work around summer programs, vacations, work, and classes. So you will still be able to go away to a dance program for a month, or go to Europe for a couple weeks, or keep your job, or take your classes, and still rehearse and perform. The number of pieces you are in will depend on your availability, but everyone will get to perform in at least one piece.
My goal is to complete three works between 15-20 minutes in length, or four works 10-15 minutes in length. The performance will be a studio showing at FIM. Rehearsals will also take place at FIM. They may be in the mornings, afternoons, or evenings, weekdays or weekends. This is not just open to dancers who are currently students at FIM. Dancers who are in college, and who may not even be dance majors, I would love to work with you too.
If you are interested, or would like to know what some of my ideas are for choreography, you can call me (810) 429-7056, or contact me on AIM: silentadagio or through email: amj05c@fsu.edu
There is no audition required, it's just an opportunity for dancers to dance, and for me to work on something I'm incredibly passionate about. If this works out, I would like to make it an annual thing each summer. So. Comment! My mom has already said I can have the space, I just need dancers. |

Okay everyone, we really need to get together over this break...does Tuesday night work for everyone? Lauren's leaving Wednesday, and I know people are going to have plans, so we're gonna try for Tuesday night sometime...maybe 6-ish? It'll probably be at either Lauren's or my house, unless anyone else wants to volunteer to host =D All the advanced people are invited, so if you read this, call some other people and tell them. I'll update again when we decide on specifics! |

| . . . Soup Days!!!!! |
|
|

So, it's official. The great and wonderful first year alumni of Flint Youth Ballet (and others) are coming back to Flint for Thanksgiving.
This of course, means attendance at the Nutcracker rehearsals for soup day. Obviously.
Now, shall we collectively as a group (returning people and still-there people) decide on a specific day where completely everyone is there? Or shall we make it more casual?
Also, should there be a 'we survived the first three months of college' celebratory event as well? Or what?
Either comment or post anew with your suggestions.
I'm all excited and shit.
:-p
Have a nice day, y'all. -Laura |

I know I'm technically not a member of Flint Youth Ballet anymore...but I don't exactly care.
I'm just posting to let you all know that I miss you like crazy. I've never been this homesick. I don't really know what's wrong with me.
So guys-- this is going to sound ridiculously cheesy, but this time in high school? Make every moment last. Seriously treasure your friends and the time spent with them because it doesn't last forever. I'd give anything to be with you guys or my other friends right now.
Anyway, sorry...about that. Ha.
I would love to hear from you, so here's my contact info:

ps-- My parents said there might be a possibility that I can come home for Thanksgiving! |

Hey bitches. Awesome job on Friday.
Sooo... We all want to get together this week and go to the beach for some good-byes to the seniors and some Flint Spoof Ballet filming... there are a few girls who need to be introduced to the tradition, after all.
Those of us doing Dancin' Fun get done at 12 pm every day, so we're free in the afternoons, but I know a lot of you are working/taking driver's ed/going on vacation. So post your availability, and those of us who are seeing each other everyday still (Dancin' Fun people) will try to come up with a date and time in the next couple days.
We'll call everyone on the roster from last year plus Amanda, Jessica T, and Carmen, sound good?
Questions, call me at 429-7056
PS-- I changed the background and made an icon for the community; check it out : ) |

Hey, nobody's posted in here for a while, so I thought I'd update =) We're kind of at a dull point and if y'all are like me, you're anxious as hell to find out what got into Midstates. I can't wait to get started on my Corsaire stuff, and it'd be great to hear how you guys are doing.
Anyway, it's going to be my birthday on the 19th, and I haven't figured out if I'm doing anything yet. If you guys wanna do something, I would love to, but it would have to be a pretty simle deal since I need to save up for Midstates. So, if anyone has any schedule issues during the next couple of weekends, tell me so if we decide to do something I'll know the best time to do it!
