Hoggiewarts

hoggiewarts is now officially closed, folks. After 4+ years, the decision to actually shut down took me a few weeks to come to terms with but seeing as I've only had one objection from a member of the community, it's obviously time for this to be happening. Perhaps it's a bit overdue considering the utter lack of enthusiasm from everybody, including myself.

I really can't explain to you all what running this comm has meant to me over the years. I've met a bunch of great people and some who aren't so great. We've had fun and we've gone through dry spells together. I'd really like to thank Amy who stuck around with me for the longest. She's been here for almost the entire time the comm has been open and even with all her other obligations to herself and her school work, she's always stuck with it.

I consider everybody in this comm my friend and I hope that it's mutual and I hope that we keep in touch now that this is over. Pretty much all of you are on my personal LJ's friend's list and please be aware that if you remove me, I will continue to stalk you. :)

Again, thanks to everyone who stuck with it and even a few of you who didn't and thanks for making these past four years so eventful and reinforcing the idea that I never want to moderate a RPG community again.

Hey guys, we have a bit of a problem. Virtually nothing has been done in this comm rp-wise for just about two weeks. I dunno where everyone's been running off to lately, but if you can't get into a chat, there are other options. Mainly a thread RP. There's really no reason for this community to be an absolute ghost town. I'm trying to get more players into the comm. Who the hell would want to join seeing that nobody will do anything?? If you can't make a chat to rp, USE THE THREAD RP OPTION. And if you can't be bothered to update your character's journal, rethink staying in the comm!

The Marauders have just been flat out boring. James hasn't done anything in absolute ages, Peter, well, he should be getting back into the swing of things (?), and that limits Sirius and Remus a bunch as its hard to move forward as a group when half that group isn't around and never does anything (excluding being out of the country). Don't stick around because you think you should or that you keep planning on doing something but never, ever do. Take the other people in the comm into consideration.

So, does anybody actually remember that there's a chat scheduled for Saturday? Because I'll be surprised if you do. The Blacks are having their Pureblood Only party Saturday evening. I gave weeks notice on this thing. It'd be nice if you all would try to be there and do something with everybody else.

Also I was told to remind you all of the detention RP that some folks wanted to do. As of right now the following students have detention:

Remus - smoking
Regulus - snakes
Evan - snakes
Evelyn - snakes
Sirius - jinxing the stairs

I know that scheduling chats with you guys is pretty much pointless, but I'd like to try with this one as its been a few weeks in planning. Right now May 17 or 18 is looking good for that. Please keep that in mind.

The next warnings will be MAY 21ST and everyone should be updated by MAY 8TH.

And a note. If you are unable to update for whatever reason, I need to know before it's time for warnings. If you are invited to a chat and actually show up, I'm going to assume that you are no longer on hiatus unless I'm told otherwise. I would think it is common sense that if you show in a chat, there's not really any reason that you can't take two minutes to update your character's journal. So if you need the time off and you receive a chat invitation or even if you are simply busy that night DECLINE THE INVITATION. I would much rather have you decline than lurking around and being inattentive or coming in and immediately leaving. Nobody likes it when that is done. A little courtesy isn't all that hard and again, remain aware that if you're in a chat I'm going to assume that you're free for updating as well if you don't tell me otherwise.

I'd like to remind you all that if you had a warning and have not yet updated, you will be REMOVED from the comm if you don't update before tomorrow evening.  This, of course, excludes those of you who have given me a valid reason for not updating.  

Firstly there's the new Term Three syllabus. It isn't as fleshed out as I would like since most of the stuff that the four people who actually left suggestions will require some in-game set up and therefore don't have a specific date set to them... Although right now it seems most people want to do the Breakfast Club-esque group detention thing. Having a play seems very popular as well, and in order to get all that in by June, it'll have to start pretty soon. I know a play has been mentioned before by Sirius, so maybe we'll go from there. But we'll discuss that later...

26th - HOGSMEADE ~ NPC student disappears for the weekend and turns up again Monday with no memory at all after a badly done memory charm. School security is tightened.

May

5th - Personnel cut-backs in all Magical Law Enforcement divisions.
13th - Dumbledore leaves Hogwarts in the hands of Professor McGonagall and leaves the castle for a few weeks.
15th - Voldemort dispatches Malfoy and a few other Deatheaters for some Muggle torture in London.
19th - FULL MOON
24th - Quidditch Final ~ Gryffindor v. Hufflepuff

June

3rd - A bunch of Muggles spot some giants in a remote part of Wales. Obliviators are dispatched to deal with the Muggles and Ministry is put on alert.
6th - Term 3 ends
9 - 13th - Finals/OWLs/NEWTs
12th - Defense Against the Dark Arts OWL ('Snape's Worst Memory')
17th - Giants destroy a village in southern Scotland. Muggles and wizards are killed.
18th - FULL MOON
20th - Students go home.

Okay folks. Now the other stuff. The Marauders need to actually be Maraudery. All its been lately is Sirius and Remus standing around smoking and unconsciously (and consciously) flirting. The SLYTHERINS are more organized!

Over the next few days it should be pointed out that Evan, Regulus, and Evelyn are going to be found out and punished for their snake prank thanks to the baby Gryffindor they tortured for the password, the Fat Lady's testimony, and a slightly elaborated-on telling by Peeves. Sirius will also be getting a detention via McGonagall for the jinxes of the staircases. They can all join Remus. Anybody else wants a detention to get in on the huge group detention, please, feel free to have your character get into a bit of mischief. Or just forget to do their homework.

The festival idea will be good for the summer, just as a distraction and to give people something to do during the summer. More on that later, that isn't really going to be anytime soon.

Like I've already mentioned above, in order to do the play thing this term, it'll have to be done soon. So whoever wants to take the reigns on that needs to get cracking.

The Noble and Most Ancient House of Black would like to invite all wizarding families of pure lineage  the Manor on May 10th. A party belatedly celebrating our sons' birthdays has been planned. RSVP is not necessary, as it is expected of everybody to be there. One uninvited guest per person, please. I have no words people, seriously. One of you doesn't have steady internet, so that's understandable. Two of you have I *no* idea what's going on with and one of you is new so I understand that. But SEVEN warnings?? SEVEN? If you're not going to update your character any other time than when you get a warning, you should really stop to think if you even want to keep that character up. This is ridiculous. I'm sorry, but it is.

And please keep in mind that now that you have a warning, you have to update once to cover this set of warnings, and then once to take care of next time otherwise it'll be another warning. If you can't think of anything to update about, there is a chat almost every single night and the name of the chat is the same 99.9% of the time so you'll find people there. Plus there's the hoggiewarts community where you can start a thread RP to get some plot moving there as well.

Another thing I'd like to talk to you all about involves the chat room. If you can't make it to the chatroom, just hit decline. I'll understand. People have things to do. But PLEASE don't come into the chat only to leave a second later. Please don't come to the chat to lurk. Nobody bites. We're all relatively nice people, not that hard to get along with most of the time. But if you can't make it to the chat, just decline the invite! It's not like I'll sit here and cry about it.

Hey there, everyone~

I'm going to be MIA this weekend, so don't expect to see me up and online. Fabian's on an surveilance mission to Bristol from Friday night to Sunday morning, and when he returns, he'll be sitting around the flat reading newspapers. Sirius will be Sirius, and shall be spelling entire staircases to swallow your legs, much like the single steps, so unless you use the banister to climb the stairs, I hope you know another way to get places~ Fenrir...well, he'll be off doing his thing.

Question - will the Blacks be hosting any balls? When I was playing our dear Lucius, he would host them all the time, sort of an excuse to pull the purebloods together. The only other dominant pureblooded house we have hanging around are the Blacks, so... Anti-mudblood parties, anyone? :D?

Hello, Hoggiewarts! I'm not sure if this is right, but I'm just posting to introduce myself. My name is Molly, and I'm the new Severus Snape in these here parts.

I'd like to jump right in and get started. If anyone would like to discuss some possible plots or interactions with Sev here, I'd love to chat. I'm online almost all day every day on AIM @ ELiza8807 (I am set to 'away' all the time, but if I'm not idle I'm usually around), and I check my email regularly so comments are grood too.

Oh, and I have yet to select a PB for Sev, but if you have suggestions I'd love to hear them. I'm rotten with choosing, see.

I'm excited to get to know you, and to start playing!

Hey folks, I wanted to run some stuff by you to see what you thought...

Firstly, things aren't getting done around here and I don't want to do another pep talk post.  I just posted ads in five different communities, so hopefully we'll get some applications coming in sometime soon as we still are in need of a Snape.  So I don't really want to make a post of me going "WHY THE HELL AREN'T YOU PEOPLE DOING ANYTHING UNTIL YOU GET WARNINGS?!?!" so here goes...

Secondly, it has been mentioned to me that there should be some sort of event.  A reason for a large-ish chat to get everybody together to do stuff.  I, personally, can't think of a reason for such an event... Mostly because I'm tapped out on things.  But if any of you have ideas that would involve both students and adults, that would be nifty.  Otherwise I'll have to think of something and nobody ever comes to chats if I've thought up the event.  Just keep that in mind.

Thirdly, I've had an idea that might be fun...  In an old RP I was in (keep in mind it was more or less a RP on crack), we used to do a RP once a week that was total, utter, crack.  Everybody was out of character (more than they usually were in that RP) for the most part and we just RPed.  But it'd be a day off of the plot RP-wise and it'd just be fun.  So, yeah, let me know what you guys think.  Syllabus might be posted later if all goes well.

WE NEED A SNAPE. Soon it shall be time for SWM and all that lovely bits of loveliness and it'd be really awesome to have a Snape. If you know anybody who'd be interested and would actually participate, send 'em our way.

Oh, and for those who are interested, Gryffindor won Saturday's Quidditch match 240 to 140. Sorry Puffs.

 So my computer broke last night (sorry about ignoring the chat invite... That's why I didn't even come in to say hi).  It willbe fixed at the earliest on Friday and that's if I'm lucky.  So I probably won't be on aim until the weekend ifI'm lucky and I have limited access time other places t updat.  Not to mention the paper that is due tomorrow that I have figure out how I'm do that.

Frankly I'm tired of screwing around with this whole updating whenever warnings are due. I mean, yeah, sometimes you just can't update. But not every single time people.

Also if you find yourself with limited internet access, then you need to say something about not being able to update here. Because if I know you on another site and I know that you have been updating and doing stuff there, I'm going to be under the impression that there's no reason you can't do the same here. I'm sick and tired of lagging the comm because people won't keep up. Its completely different if you can't. But if you won't, then we've got a problem.

I've been pretty AWOL this week because of midterms of death, and next week I'm going to be traveling and without any Internet access-- so I'm going to need to call a hiatus until mid-next-week. I'll get everybody updated then.

The good news is, I'm halfway done at this point. So if you guys can all hang on for two months more, I'll be back in full-- less AWOL and weird time zones and more Internet-- commission come May! (And I'm always at my most active over the summers, anyway, I think).

A reminder to those who might not realize it... Warnings are tomorrow and everybody should be updated by then. Including adult characters. Those of you who had warnings last time need to update a SECOND time to be brought up to date with these warnings. Otherwise you will get another warning. Three warnings in a row and you'll be removed from the community. I'm not letting people get away with updating student characters once a month and not working to progress the story at all. Especially when they should be.

SO... If you haven't updated since the last warnings came out, you should probably do so. Snape and James need to be updated AGAIN. Adults should be updated. Warnings will be 11pm EST tomorrow evening.

Also if you have a DE... Decide whether or not they did any scouting in Hogsmeade this past weekend.
