I'm going to visit my girlfriend in 10 days, for the first time since we've been together. I've visited her before, but that was only as friends. It wasn't until I returned from that trip that we both realized (or admitted, I suppose) that we had feelings for one another. What do you think a LDR means? Explain in your own words. Loving someone so much that you're willing to deal with the pain of being apart everyday because you know that in the end, it will be worth it. Loving someone so much that you can trust each other to be apart, and still stay together. I think that being in an LDR actually brings people closer together, because you rely on genuine communication and emotional connection more than just the physical aspects of a relationship.
Are you willing to live in another country? If so, where? I would live anywhere she is. I think we'd both agree on Japan though.
What are your thoughts about exclusiveness in your long distance relationship? That's all a part of the trust. If you're truly in love, exclusiveness shouldn't be an issue, because you should only want to be with one person. I can't imagine being with anyone else, in any way, even if we are hundreds of miles apart. My heart is with her.

When I came back in 2006 we finally decided to live together. We both do believe that people can manage long distance relationships and their stability depends on mutual wish to keep such relationships, appreciate and develop them. Ah, man, distance can be hard.

My girlfriend and I are very much in love, but we live in different countries. (Hence my being in this community.)

Nights can be hard. I feel like I want her lying beside me. The stuffed rabbit she sent me through the mail helps a little; at least I have something to hold on to. She said this happens to her too, which makes me feel slightly better for not being the only one.

Nothing seems to be a suitable subsitute for the real thing. Pillows don't do anything but aggrevate the feeling, because the pillow doesn't have those beautiful curves, and neither does it have its own warmth.

Any ideas? Do any of you go through this?
