I think I could get the hang of LJ again, it seems like a comfortable secure space for personal thoughts/feelings/experiences etc. Tumblr is not the right platform when I regard it more for sharing pretty pictures, arts and perhaps meta-discussion than for a daily recount of events. So we'll see how that goes...
Yesterday, I fell down the stairs while at work. I had just brought Carolina te/kage as the Særudstilling is rather cold, especially because people leave the doors open all the fucking time. Intending to return to the main exhibition quickly, for I had no jacket upon my person for the short way, I was perhaps a bit too jumpy and tumbled down the stairs leading from Den Kongelige Bibliotek. There was an elderly couple, who turned around upon my curse and the man offered to carry me, perhaps even bridalstyle despite his advanced age. I refused, grateful though I may have been, preferring to spend some woeful moments just rocking back and forth and clutching my ankle, while the pain washed over me. In these type of moments, the worst you can do is move. Please let me ride it out first.
I returned back to work more or less, had a pack of frozen berries pressed to my foot and wondering if it would be unprofessional to ask to return home. As it was, I was pressured into leaving, a taxi was called (which could also carry my bike, as I did not want to leave it standing there for two nights. I probably would not have seen it ever again, had I done so) and I was driven to the Akutkliniken. It really disgruntled me because this is just typical. When you least need it, these type of accidents happen and take the wind out of your sails. I had just bought cake in the morning for everyone and now could not enjoy it at all. On top of that I could not go to work today either due to the nature of my disgraceful hobbling, losing roughly 100€ I am badly in need of. On the other hand it does give me more time to organize my university shit. Naturally (or rather: because of this) I did not return home afterwards, but rode my bike to the University to do some work for my internship and read some articles. Though I have to be honest, I wasted the last two 1½h with playing these map-games where you have to name all the countries of the world (my score: 97/197). So there you have it. - Tags:do not want, probably my own echo, random, rant, real life = it sucks, save me barry!, srsly you guys, this is the life, und sonst so?, would u like some bread with that whine, your favourite thing: disappointment!

Haven't updated my lj in quite a while - one year, to be exact. I wonder what it might mean that I return now and not earlier (or later). Perhaps the silence I keep on tumblr is getting to me, but even here, I feel at a loss for words. I shall try regardless: ( More Under The CutCollapse )- Tags:ísland ísland ísland, ;_;, and then this happened, copenhagen, denmark, exciting yes?, iceland, into the west, into the world of night, probably my own echo, save me barry!, scandinavia, some nice flowers, this is the life, und sonst so?, vikings, vituð ér enn - eða hvað?

i am so good keeping this updated, wonder what i will think of this when i turn 50?: - went to job interview, got a test day this saturday. pay is 1300ISK per hour. hm. :/ i really need to quickly learn that damn language or else i will be no good BUT for cleaning.
- my cellphone ran out of Guthaben.
- bought a tiny Mjölnir penchant. i now feel branded and claimed by the norse gods for life. C: WILL I GO TO VALHALLA AT THE END OF MY LIFE?
- did homework ooh the novelity.
- then took a nap wherein i dreamt i was Loki and despised all those viking/medieval fairs and those who claim to know their way around the culture. oh, how they hated (i destroyed all their shitty artwork at the fair), then turned into a wolf and ran away. yeaaah.
- and now i will go fry some mushrooms and eggplant to go with yoghurt and couscous.
- Tags:ísland ísland ísland, all considered i am quite a nerd, exciting yes?, hah!, hin íslenska dagbók, lokiiiii, not that i mind, probably my own echo, und sonst so?, vikings

haha wow. i had a look at the room today (about 12m², with a desk, bed and a large wardrobe/shelves - similar to greifswald). suddenly it’s 60,000. the woman seemed nice, tho, if hectic as if she got too much on her platter at once. and oh boy, she buys mirrors. MIRRORS. putting them in every corner. i am already scared. aside from that, the house is full of stuff, clattered up, i’d say. so not really sure if want. but then again we mesh well, and she said she’d teach me icelandic plus she loves cooking and baking. uuuhm. what to do, what to do…
and then there’s this: i got a job interview on tuesday for hotel 101 in hverfisgata. uiuiui. but the best part of this day so far was this: after coming back from having a look at the room, i was so hungry i decided to go into the next best restaurant, despite the offending prices. so prikið it is! good food, but they messed up on my order (where are my oranges, my camembert and most of all, where is that promised tomato?), they gave me that meal for free. that’s right. i did not pay one kronur. what.so.ever. nada. null. nix. zero. how awesome is that, huh? yeaaah, saved 1900ISK just by being at the right place at the right time. gosh, Óðinn really must love me. life is too easy.

things done yesterday: - went to the unnecessary orientation meeting for international students
- handed in my passport photo for the creditcard to my account at the Landsbanki
- met up with fellas from VMN/MIS programme (lotsa Americans, woah)
- got hella drenched by rain - I was dripping wet by the time I reached the Árnagarður building.
- everyone got little name tags with their study programme
- oh and folders with information in it, an introduction to the schedule and the course of the programm (aka, when to decide where to go the 3rd semester. they made apparently some changes there, because now you can’t stay in Iceland and HAVE to go another country and then come back for the 4th, except if you stay in Oslo. seems I’ll live in Oslo for a whole year after all.)
- one of the fellas from the programme is a friend of Anna, a girl whom I know back from HU who told her I’d come. Name’s Rabea and first thing she did after the official meeting was over, was to call my name and say all enthusiastically “Anna told me you would be here!” LOL
- free drinks! lots of funny talk. ended up chatting with the more nerdier people of the programme: Cole (US), Kevin (US), James (UK), Robert (Ger), Rabea(Ger) and Liv Marit (Nor). interesting!
- went home later, felt left out, browsed the internet and got woken up at around 00:30am because some douche downstairs decided it was the perfect time to hammer in some nails into the wall. EXCUSE ME?
- I really don’t like my flatmate. :C
so, yeah, I guess that was quite interesting as far as first meetings go. :>
