First, for those who don't have the DVD sets/are missing some: This week, through Saturday the 12th, Amazon.com is running some amazing sales on every Perry DVD set (except part 2 of season 8)!

And right on the hills of that, on the 15th, NPR will have a segment on Hamilton Burger that is positive. Check the below link for your local affiliate and its airtimes of Morning Edition! You can also stream online. I unfortunately don't know at what point in the broadcast they'll air the piece, but I'll try to pass the word along once I do know, since there are usually repeats during the day.

Halloween Perry?

Well, as I am buried deep in my Perry-related writing challenges for October, and writing blog posts on the paranormal-themed Perry episodes (http://parkavenuebeat.blogspot.com/), I can't help wondering what other delicious Perry tales could be told for Halloween.

What would be your idea of a perfect Perry episode for Halloween? It wouldn't have to really involve the supernatural, as of course the creepy episodes never did in the end, but there could still be plenty of spooky build-up. Or heck, go wild, mix in the supernatural if you want!

By default, I would have to nominate my Halloween Perry fic for this year: The Case of the Man-Eating House. It's an ensemble piece, involving pretty much all of the main characters from over the nine seasons (except for Terrance Clay; I didn't get him fit in).

What drew you to Perry?

I see we're getting some activity here. Awesome. Alright, we need a discussion topic to get things going. And our first topic will be What captured your interest in this classic series? The legal elements? Crime-solving? The characters?

Being a suspense/action fan, I always wanted more to happen to the characters. They usually seemed to make it out without a scratch. (I think Paul is the only one disasters ever seemed to happen to, save for a couple of times when Perry was held at gunpoint and a couple of times when someone tried to attack Hamilton and was restrained.) What drew me in, in spite of the usually minimal danger to the main cast, was the intriguing friendship between Perry and Hamilton. I started noticing it right away in select season 1 episodes and was fascinated, especially since they usually seemed to be at such odds in court and Hamilton was often upset. When I paid attention further, I saw such scenes happening more and more in other seasons. I loved it.

I became very fond of all the characters as I continued to watch. I thought of them as old friends. I still do. And the friendship between Perry and Hamilton is still one of the key elements that draws me in.
