I have been moved to post by the question that has presented itsself in me due to the increased presence of this matter on my friends' page. It is half question and half rant really, I hope at least one other person holds the same opinion as me!
What's with all the Valentines haters?!
I am single, fairly newly so infact (I broke up with my ex on New Years' Day, it was my descision, as an aside) and I think Valentines is far more exciting that way! Isn't the potential fun for anyone else? Even if I - and this is much more than likely - recieve only nice messages from friends and nothing of an actual romantic nature, that makes me happy! And ~sickeningly positive attitude alert~ I really like seeing other people, just people in the street, with *that* smile on their face because they got something, that makes me happy too. Dare I venture also, but "hating" Valentines Day makes it only more likely that you will not recieve anything - who's going to gift something to someone if they look like they're going to rip your face off if you do? For all you know, someone could be gearing themselves up to give you something and then they see you and you've a face like thunder and grumbling about how much you "hate" Valentines Day and then they think they'd better not risk it! V-Day haters, you would be overjoyed if someone got you something, don't pretend you wouldn't be, you're only hurting yourselves! Enjoy the atmosphere it creates and be happy for those people with the glowing cheeks, it's the potential that matters.
By the by, I am not some rampant ~♥ OMGZ VALENTIENZ ♥~ kinda girl, I am not especially bothered by it either way, I just don't get the hating; it's counter-productive, pessimistic and emotionally self-harming and those things drive me mad! I am leaving this public also if noone minds, so more people can read it.
