LiveJournal Revival
2021-06-24-002 1200 x 1200

Are you fed-up with garbage, full-of-shit sites where nobody actually communicates, such as Facebook, Instagram and Tumblr? Do you wish your old friends who've migrated to those sites would return to LiveJournal? The Imagethe_lj_revival community has been set up with that aim in mind, and you are invited to join it. If you are already on LiveJournal and still have a Facebook profile, and would like to see more people returning to LJ or setting up accounts here, we invite you to post a link to this community on your Facebook Timeline. If you would like to find out who is still using LiveJournal and make contact with those who are already here, you are invited to copy and paste the 'about me' questions on the profile page and post them with your answers to the community.
29th-Mar-2009 03:10 pm - Question
I was actually wondering about this thought for a while now. It's more curiosity than anything.

Let's say that someone is still unsure about their sexual orientation. In their minds they know they are homosexual but there are some times that they feel sexually attracted to the opposite sex because of their attitudes and or physical attributes. Is it possible to have that attractiveness to the point of physical activity??

For example (if my question is not clear), gay guy becomes friends with a girl. After time, he notices that she is pretty manly, tomboy, and he starts to feel physically attracted to her even though he likes guys.

Is this possible? I am just curious.

...but I've never ever used them with anyone.

5:28 PM 8/20/08 · I got these two types of massage, the text files anyway, from before I found the internet (early 80's) skimming through a lot of local BBS's in my neck of the woods. I've always wanted to try them, certainly had enough opportunities, but I suppose I tend to get so lost in who I'm pleasuring that I'm more interested in exploring them and what we can do for each other that I tend to forget that I even have them.

Still, doesn't mean I can't share with the group...so to speak.

One fine day I'll find someone to do these with.

red alert
...or, better to say, responses will be screened.

10:19 AM 8/2/08 · Heard on the burst of stuff I get with my morning news, alarm clock radio, that there's about 56,000 more cases of people infected with the HIV virus (since 2006) in the United States than was previously believed. This seemed as much a shock to the newscaster, who's repeated the announcement every 10 to 20 minutes, as it did to me. Even more of a shock, apparently, to the people that normally track these statistics who were blown away by this revelation.

So, I'm xposting this fairly heavily to get the widest range of responses to the following questions:

Do you use safe sex?
What is your preferred method of safe sex?
Do you always use safe sex or stop at some point with some people?
Do you also use safe sex for more than just intercourse?
Do you practice safe oral sex?

Individual mods of the communities I send this to, I hope this is okay.

I have been looking into putting together a romantic playlist for my partner and I consisting of romantic, love-makin' jazz. Any suggestions of artists, songs, albums, etc of appropriate bedroom jazz?

My First Pelvic Exam

This article answers many commonly-asked questions about a woman's first pelvic exam, which usually includes the Pap smear, or Pap test. Many women avoid having pelvic exams as a result of fear of this commonly-performed procedure; the reality is that the procedure itself is far less uncomfortable than treating any disorder it's there to protect you from.

The main reason to have a Pap smear is to detect cervical cancer in its early stages -- this is a cancer with relatively few symptoms until it's in the advanced stages, meaning that the cancer can become quite invasive and actually spread to other organs in the body before it is detected.

Human Papillomavirus or HPV causes between 70-90% of all cervical cancers. It is estimated that 75% of Canadians will have at least one HPV infection in their lifetime. There are many different types of HPV, only some of which can cause cancer. HPV is highly contagious, and many types of HPV have no symptoms.

There is a vaccine available which can prevent 70% of cancerous HPV infections. This vaccine presently has a nominal cost, but may be covered by the Canadian Health System in the future, or added to scheduled vaccinations, both in Canada and the United States. This would have the effect of preventing most of the cervical cancers (as well as some anal cancers and some cancers of the male genitalia) from occurring in the first place, saving millions of health-care dollars in the long-run, not to mention lives, as well as untold pain and suffering.

The problem? 87% of Toronto high school students have not heard of HPV.

What can you do?

  • If you have a teen, have a conversation about your teen about this virus. Studies show that teens listen to their parents, and look to them for guidance, especially about issues such as sex, that can have permanent consequences. If you find the discussion difficult, give a link to an informative website to your teen, and let the internet do its magic.

  • If you have a daughter, consider having her vaccinated. At this time, the vaccine is not approved for boys, however, this is likely to change as more clinical trials are done.

  • If you are a woman under the age of 26, consider getting vaccinated.

  • For everyone else, make sure to discuss your HPV risk with your sexual partner(s). Condoms do not protect 100% against the HPV virus, as skin-to-skin contact is required, and lesions can appear on regions of the body not covered by a condom, such as the scrotum, thighs, and perineal/anal region.

  • As always, please feel free to reply to this post with any questions you have. They will be answered!

The link to the survey is here.

(from the e-mail)

Every day at Egale Canada we get calls and emails from people looking for help. Requests for information about adoption, immigration, and.... divorce!

Some calls are extremely difficult. This week we heard from a single mother of a 16 year old gay youth. She was distraught and didn't know where to go for help.

Her son is out at school and faces harassment every day. The gym teacher makes fun of how he runs and fag is painted on his locker. When forced by the school's administration to take shop, wooden dildos were left at his bench. His mother approached the principal who washed his hands of the matter. She turned to the police for help. Nothing has been done. He needs four credits to graduate and has all but dropped out.

No one should have to endure this harassment. Our schools must protect and include ALL students.

On December 10th, Egale Canada launched a national student survey to look at homophobia and transphobia in Canadian Schools. The survey targets students in grades 8 through 12 and aims to document the realities of life at school for straight, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, Two Spirit, intersex, queer, and questioning (LGBTTIQ) students, including the kids of LGBTTIQ parents. The information from this survey will provide educators and policy makers with information that will enable them to make Canadian schools safer and more respectful places for our youth. Help us get the word out.

9th-Sep-2007 08:50 am - The "safe window"
My partner and I have been together for 6 years. In the first year, we used condoms and afterwards for the other 5 years, he used the withdrawal method. I have never been on birth control. I know some people might frown on the withdrawal method but we have a lot of trust for each other and he has excellent control. We recently heard that our friend often cums in his wife and she has never become pregnant and is not on any birth control of any form. Our friend and his wife have been together for 8 years. I asked our friend how this was possible and he said that they chart the phases of her period and there is a "safe window" where he can come in her.

Now, as a physiology / anatomy student, I know enough about the body but not nearly enough to understand it completely. I understand that a woman is most fertile before her period. But what about after her period ? In between her period ? Can anyone point me in the right direction or provide me more information on this.

Not that my partner and I want to try having him cum in me during a "safe window" but since hearing of our friends doing this, we just want more information on this just to merely educate ourselves.
