Apologies for running this advert a second time, but I'm still looking for lots of participants for this study! This in genuine research and is not intended as spam (just a note for people kind enough to have done this study before - it's only possible to do it once, but please pass the info on to friends. Thanks!) If you enjoy answering questionnaires, please consider taking part in a study of paranormal, religious, and spiritual experiences, being carried out online by researchers at the Experimental Psychology department of the University of Bristol, UK. If you have had one or more paranormal/supernatural, religious, or spiritual experiences (no matter how small or unexciting!) in your life, and you are over 16, you are eligible to take part. You don't necessarily have to be spiritual or religious, just to have had an experience that isn't easily explained by current science! The study involves filling in questionnaires at your leisure online, and takes less than 30 minutes in total. The study is *completely anonymous*. Not even your email address is required! If you take part, *please* complete a consent form and *all three* questionnaire forms (so four in total, see links below for more info) and answer all the questions. If you are interested in taking part in this study, which is fully endorsed by the University of Bristol's Ethics in Human Research Committee, please click one of the following links: http://www.personalitystudy.net/public_html/consentform.htm The above links to the consent form, which will shut down automatically on completion, so please note the addresses of the other forms in advance! They are at: http://www.personalitystudy.net/public_html/first_questionnaire.htm http://www.personalitystudy.net/public_html/second_questionnaire.htm http://www.personalitystudy.net/public_html/final_questionnaire.htm More information at the study's LJ community, belief_study Contact the researcher at personality-study@bris.ac.uk

Hey there faithful Meezers,
You asked for it - You got it. Meez has updated not only our look, but also our features! Swing by today to:
- ADD boyfriends & girlfriends! (Do the names "Brad Pitt" and "Jessica Alba" ring any bells? Huh? No? Please, allow us to introduce you...)
- ZOOM & SPIN your Meez - Bring those details to life with these oh-so-necessary options.
- SEE the new colors! Very chic, very post-millennium, always snazzy.
- BROWSE with ease! We've made navigation easier and changed a couple of names.
MeezMall is now MeezMaker and Beenz are now Coinz. (We've kept your favorite Meez export and forum intact.) - BETTER SAVINGS - No, we're not talking banking, here. Now, you can save smaller versions of your animated Meez! There's even an undo button! (Now if only we could add that to real life...)
So there you've got the incredibly abridged list of the latest ways Meez rocks today. Please come by and drop us a line. We'd love to know what you think! Have a lovely weekend and happy Meezin'! Now if you'll excuse me, I've got to go tend to my Brad...Err, work... Peace! ~M.

I just had a baby almost 3 months ago (woah time flies) so I obviously have been staying home... which means a big budget cut for us; but...Both of these websites are GREAT! I've made over $200 in the past 2months from them (and yes really have been paid)! M The surveys can get redundent, but are worth it. Treasure Trooper isn't as quick to okay things you've done, but I think has better payouts! Check em out! (Warning: THEY ARE SLIGHTLY ADDICTING!!!)

I have put much enthusiasm, and I hope some quality of thought, into enhancing NASA's SSPS idea of importing needed energy from solar concentrator and collector arrays located outside Earth's atmosphere. On second thought
Now, taking a broader view, I'm having second thoughts. This idea, like many other worthy technological efforts, intended to drastically reduce the amount of combustible fuel needed to make My Dream of "free energy" available everywhere. Yet, today's business-as-usual path toward a highly-modified atmosphere and changed global climate may make this kind of solution untenable. With a degree Celsius of global warming already "in the bag," yet another 0.6 degrees guaranteed to arrive at an accelerating pace (even if human activity ceased immediately!), and with sea level rise, new diseases, ecosystem changes, resource competition (war) and migration attached, continued pollution of the air even at current emission levels of carbon dioxide and other, more potent gasses appear to close the door on human choice within ten years or so in the matter of catastrophic climate change and widespread extinctions (please see the science in Jim Hansen's excellent presentation at http://www.giss.nasa.gov/~jhansen/keeling/keeling_talk_and_slides.pdf). Since highly upsetting, truly draconian social measures would likely be necessary to access an alternative path to the catastrophic scenario, we might at this point well admit that the "big blanket" of heat-trapping gasses will indeed spike within and beyond our lifetime to levels never before experienced by large mammalian and deciduous life forms (see Hansen's Chart 17). The gas least toxic to our human health paradoxically has become the one most dangerous to life on Earth, because carbon dioxide persistence in the atmosphere is clearly linked to rising heat levels in the atmosphere, on the planet surface and in the world ocean. Introducing MORE energy use of ANY kind will perform more work for the human population, but will also increase an energy budget in which the waste heat generated is increasingly ensnared inside our atmospheric blanket. Under these conditions, adding significant external solar energy to the planet may already be considered irresponsible due to the high current levels of carbon in the air. This leaves us with a single course of action: to conserve. ( Read more...Collapse )

| | | | | | | Self-Injury: You are NOT the only one. |
Monday, March 1, 2006 is SI Awareness Day."We are male and female. We are artists, athletes, students, and business owners. We have depression, DID, PTSD, eating disorders, borderline personalities, bipolar disorder, or maybe no formal diagnosis at all. Some of us were abused, some were not. We are straight, bi, and gay. We come from all walks of life and can be any age. We are every single race or religion that you can possibly think of. Our common link is this: We are in pain. We self-injure. And we are not freaks."Information: http://www.palace.net/~llama/psych/injury.htmlI know too many people for whom this is applicable. Take a minute to read about it. Take a second to understand.
