I think MailPoet may be crashing my server (504 Gateway Time-out nginx and 502 Bad Gateway nginx messages in web browser),

    Server error log message below

    [Thu May 08 19:12:47.995817 2025] [proxy_fcgi:error] [pid 2598:tid 140506791302912] [client 107.175.84.173:60786] AH01071: Got error ‘PHP message: Exception: Invalid API endpoint. in /var/www/vhosts/cyprus-property-buyers.com/public_html/wp/wp-content/plugins/mailpoet/lib/API/JSON/API.php:193\nStack trace:\n#0 /var/www/vhosts/cyprus-property-buyers.com/public_html/wp/wp-content/plugins/mailpoet/lib/Subscription/Form.php(33): MailPoet\\API\\JSON\\API->processRoute()\n#1 /var/www/vhosts/cyprus-property-buyers.com/public_html/wp/wp-includes/class-wp-hook.php(324): MailPoet\\Subscription\\Form->onSubmit()\n#2 /var/www/vhosts/cyprus-property-buyers.com/public_html/wp/wp-includes/class-wp-hook.php(348): WP_Hook->apply_filters()\n#3 /var/www/vhosts/cyprus-property-buyers.com/public_html/wp/wp-includes/plugin.php(517): WP_Hook->do_action()\n#4 /var/www/vhosts/cyprus-property-buyers.com/public_html/wp/wp-admin/admin-post.php(58): do_action()\n#5 {main}’, referer: https://www.news.cyprus-property-buyers.com

I’ve deactivated both plugins and problem goes away.

It’s particularly annoying as I have two websites on the server – both fail.

MailPoet 5.12.1 and MailPoet Premium 5.12.0

    WordPress 6.8.1 and PHP 8.1.29

    Theme TagDiv Newspaper Version: 12.7

My apologies – the problem on my VPS has returned this morning after I deactivated both MailPoet plugins.

I’ve raised the issue with my hosting provider.

    Apologies again

    Hello there @nhowarth ,

    Thanks for letting us know.

It’s good to know you’ve already reached out to your hosting provider; that’s the right move in this case. Server-level issues, such as gateway errors, can sometimes be linked to timeouts, permission conflicts, or memory limits. Your host may be able to pinpoint if something specific is being blocked or overloaded.

Let us know what you hear from your host, and we’ll be here if you need any support regarding MailPoet.

    Cheers!

    Thanks Ojoma

    Host replied as follows:

“I have investigated your issue further, and from what I was able to identify, your website was using the FPM PHP, which seems to be more compatible with FastCGI PHP, and also the PHP limits were set to minimum on the server.

“I made proper adjustments, and the website seems to be loading properly now with no errors for this time.

Please check and let me know if everything is working properly for you or if you still encounter issues.”

(I’ve been on this server since 2011 but the problem only started a week ago. I’ll be moving to a new server in a week or two)

    Regards
    Nigel

    Hi @nhowarth ,

Thanks for letting us know how you resolved the issue.

As for the new server, if you haven’t chosen one yet, I’d recommend checking WordPress.com hosting plans.

    Cheers!
