MOMOLAND (모모랜드) is a South Korean girl group formed by MLD Entertainment (previously known as Duble Kick Company), who made their debut originally as a septet on November 10, 2016 with the mini album Welcome to MOMOLAND and “짠쿵쾅 (JJan! Koong! Kwang!)” serving as its title track. The project also features vocals from C'SA and former MIXX’s Heejae.
The group was formed on Mnet’s reality survival show Finding Momoland, which aired between July and September of 2016. Its line-up initally consisted of Hyebin, Yeonwoo, Jane, Nayun, JooE, Ahin and Nancy, all before the addition of two new members: Taeha, a former Starship Entertainment trainee and contestant of the first season of Produce 101 and Daisy, one of three eliminated Finding Momoland participants in March and April 2017, respectively.
MOMOLAND rose to domestic and international fame in after the release of “Bboom Bboom” from their third EP Great! in January 2018. Since then, they have released two more Korean mini albums, various singles, including December 2019’s “Thumbs Up” or November 2020’s “Ready or Not”, won over 25 awards and reached hundreds of millions of streams/views on YouTube as well as other various streaming platforms.
Some members began doing solo work in 2018. JooE starred in multiple commercials, the most notable one being with Tropicana Sparkling. Taeha and Ahin were featured in other artists songs and also recorded an OST album together. Yeonwoo starred in multiple dramas and Nancy has been featured in music videos of other K-pop groups, along with being a part of the Inkigayo project called Sunny Girls.
Taeha and Yeonwoo made their departure from MOMOLAND on November 29, 2019 after terminating contracts with MLD Entertainment, while Daisy left the group on May 13, 2020. The rest of the members would later go on a 2-year hiatus after announcing the termination of their contracts with the company on January 27, 2023. On April 10, 2025 it was announced through reports made by Maeil Business Newspaper that MOMOLAND will resume their group activities and will be managed by Inyeon Entertainment.
