Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown, known in Japan as Virtua Fighter esports (バーチャファイター eスポーツ), and in Microsoft Windows as Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. (バーチャファイター5 R.E.V.O.) is an enhanced remake of Virtua Fighter 5 based on its final update Final Showdown, announced in May 2021. Co-developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and Sega AM2, it was released worldwide for the PlayStation 4 on June 1st, 2021, followed by Arcade version on the next day, then three years later on January 28th, 2025.
2026
- June 5 - Virtua Fighter Crossroads was officially revealed during the Summer Games Fest with a new trailer and a developer's showcase.
2025
- May 11th - Wolf Hawkfield was revealed as a returning character for the upcoming Virtua Fighter game during EVO Japan. Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. was also confirmed for release on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and Switch 2.
2024
- December 12th - At the 2024 Game Awards, SEGA and Ryu Ga Gokuto Studio announced a new Virtua Fighter game. Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O.s release date was also confirmed for January 28, 2025, with an open beta already available.
- November 21th - Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O., an update to Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown, was announced for PC.
2023
- November 9th - Virtua Fighter 2 was re-released as a bonus title in the game Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.
- May 1st - Jacky and Sarah were added as playable characters in The King of Fighters All Star.
- April 25th - Akira and Pai were added as playable characters in The King of Fighters All Star.
2021
- June 1st - Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown released worldwide for the PlayStation 4.
