The Wheel of Time is an epic fantasy series by Robert Jordan, the pen name of author James Oliver Rigney Jr. The first book, The Eye of the World, was published in 1990, followed by ten more volumes and a prequel over seventeen years. Sadly, Jordan passed away on 16 September 2007 after a long battle with cardiac amyloidosis. The remaining three books of the series were completed by the author and Wheel of Time fan, Brandon Sanderson, who has since become one of the most well-known authors in the genre. The final book, A Memory of Light was published 8 January 2013. Harriet Rigney, Jordan's widow and editor, was an integral part of enabling his legacy to be completed, later publishing the The Wheel of Time Companion in 2015.

The Wheel of Time is famous for its expansive and immersive world-building, long character arcs, extensive forshadowing details and overall richness of detail. It is a multiple New York Times bestselling series and has been translated into many languages.

Leane Sharif

Leane Sharif (pronounced: lee-AHN-eh shah-REEF) is an Aes Sedai of the Green Ajah, originally of the Blue Ajah.

Leane Sedai

Leane was considered very strong in the One Power with a strength of 14(2). Few equalled this strength, and even fewer surpassed it.

After being stilled and Healed, she was considered very weak for an Aes Sedai, with a strength of 36(24). Leane explains that she and Siuan were less than half their original strength and, had they even been as strong as half, "most [in Salidar] would be as strong, and a good many stronger".[1] Siuan, with a strength level of 35(23), considered herself so weak that a "no more than middling" sister like Aeldene Stonebridge would expect her to be "holding my tongue until [she] give me permission to speak".[2] Aeldene would be classed as no more than low average and we know of only a handful of Aes Sedai that are weaker than Leane.

Leane has the talent to use the Healing weaves. She is also strong in Earth, having the second-best ability with metals after Egwene and is one of the best at making cuendillar - being faster than Aes Sedai stronger than her in the Power such as Kairen at level 18(6) and Ashmanaille at level 22(10).

After her stilling, she began to practice the Domani arts of seduction. She once thought that these arts worked as well on women as on men, and she used these to great effect to guide and manipulate the rebel Aes Sedai into listening to her suggestions. She also maintained an eyes-and-ears network within Tar Valon itself, as she always thought the Aes Sedai should pay greater attention to what was going on near them, giving a great deal of intelligence and information to the rebels.

Leane is 48 years old. She was born in the year 952 NE in a merchant family and was sent to the White Tower in 967 NE. After spending five years as novice and four as Accepted she was raised to the shawl in the year 976 NE. A very short time even for one with her potential.

She was an Accepted with Moiraine Damodred, though Leane was raised to Aes Sedai sometime earlier.

Because she was one of the newest Blues, raised only about a year before, she was one of the sisters who presented the shawl to Moiraine and Siuan Sanche when they first became Aes Sedai. She then escorted them to the Blue Ajah living quarters. As Aes Sedai, she resumed her friendship with Siuan and Moiraine once they became Aes Sedai.

She had a Warder called Anjen, who she Bonded in 977 NE and who died in 984 NE. They were therefore only Bonded for seven years, which is not long.[3]

She was Keeper of the Chronicles under Siuan Sanche, raised from the Blue Ajah in 988 NE, serving for 11 years.

All manner of characters populate the vast world of the series. With fourteen books and a prequel, The Wheel of Time series contains thousands of characters, from Aes Sedai, Warders, and nobility, to humble farmers and maids, from powerful warriors to those sworn to peace in all they do.

Some folks would not resist the temptation of a little more gold, either. In any case, no warning dice tumbled in his head. And there were people inside those canvas walls he could not leave behind.
