Messages from Prime Minister

Image Messages from Prime Minister

Image

Deep in my heart I know that with God, ‘all things are possible’. If we work together, towards a common purpose, in the common interest and for the common good, great things are indeed possible for our country and our people. But no government can do great things on its own. I am sure that my government can only succeed if we partner with the Bahamian people. We are going to listen. We are going to consult widely. And we are going to bring people together. That is the best way to make progress as a nation.

Prime Minister of The Bahamas
The Hon. Philip Davis

Welcome to
The Government of
The Bahamas

Overview & Structure of the Government

The Constitution of the Bahamas is based on the Westminster Model; King Charles III, The Executive Branch, The Legislative Branch, and the Judicial Branch.

As a member of the Commonwealth of Nations, The Bahamas recognizes King Charles III as Head of State. The Governor-General is the King's representative in The Bahamas and constitutes a symbol of the nation’s unity.

The Cabinet constitutes the executive branch and has general direction and control of the Government of The Bahamas. It is necessary for the Cabinet to comprise at least nine Ministers inclusive of the Prime Minister and Attorney General.

Parliament constitutes the Legislative branch of The Bahamas, which consist of a Senate and a House of Assembly. Subject to the provisions of the Constitution, Parliament may make laws for the peace, order and good government of The Bahamas.
