Part 2 of @Curtcasali pregame routine with @CraigAlbernaz - Receiving/blocking/throwing footwork.
-Rolling blocks w/ no hands (center the ball)
-short hop frames
-Angled receiving
-Regular blocks
-transfer/throwing footwork
Great blocking/reaction drill with limited space using the vector ball for vision training. Color dictares the base for recovery (items on the ground match the color/base) 🟢 = 3B, 🔵 = 2B, 🔴 = 1B
Awesome drill from @goodrocatching we’ve integrated into our warm up. Short hop receiving from different stances with a runner call. Working landing softly while transitoning, with a timely/controlled pre-pitch. @HernandezJedier
Rounding out our staff with the addition of Jorge Solodkin who will serve as the Tar Heels' Director of Sports Performance!
Welcome to Chapel Hill, Jorge!

No better way to explain the feel of knee down blocking than this Austin Hedges video. (Taken from @goodrocatching ) Shinguard is your point of mobility. Weight distribution and part of knee on the ground is a difference maker. Our warmup is centered around creating this feel
Love this drill from @goodrocatching - working uphill to really feel the backside coming through. Made the throw with no mound after feel much easier after.

Part 1 of @Curtcasali pregame routine with @CraigAlbernaz - Throwing progression.
-Reverse throws
-pivot pickoffs
-pickoffs
-weighted driveline baseball throws up to about 90 feet
-long toss with a regular baseball 120+ feet
-arm slot throws
(1/2) Cool blocking drill based on this Yadi drill posted a couple of years ago. My interpretation of the drill at the time was to emphasize deadening the ball & help catchers really work on moving hips better (getting into deeper ranges of motion than usual).
Beyond excited for this opportunity! Thank you to @CoachChurchill for this opportunity. Time to get to work and build something special @SHUSoftball !! #HALLin
Saw this video of Roberto Perez earlier this year courtesy of @goodrocatching . When teaching young players the scap load aka “bow&arrow”, this is a great tool - young throwers tend to rush and push ball or get hand below it = weaker throw. Great warm up drill prior to throwing
While others have more complex pregames, @will_smith30 keept it simple:
-Rolling blocks on 2 knees
-Short hop blocks on 2 knees
-Regular blocks from stances with transition into LKD
-Transfer work with transition into LKD
