[Content warnings: violence, character death]Your name is Felix Hugo Fraldarius, and you are about to die.
It happens so quickly. One moment, you are wading through bodies in Gronder Field, soaked in blood up to your waist, cutting down anyone who stands in your way. The next, you're soaked up to your armpits, because there is a spear in one of them, and the blood is your blood. You land half on top of the swordmaster you just felled.
For a split second, you wonder where you went wrong, but the answer is clear in front of you.
The Boar. It's always the damned Boar.
He was your best friend, once. Then the Tragedy happened, and not only did your brother die, but something of him died as well, leaving only a beast to play at being a man. You tried to tell everyone, screamed until you were blue in the face, but no one listened. You thought he was dead for years, but this battle has proved him alive and more beastly than ever. He tore through soldiers with his clawed gauntlets as much as his spear, his bellowing rising above even the din of armies clashing.
But like a beast, like a maddened boar, he had no plan, no sense. He went for the Emperor on her hill, even as he started to get overwhelmed.
You don't know when you got closer, but you were able to see clearly the moment he fell under the onslaught.
It felt like nothing you'd ever felt before.
Then there was a spear in your side, and you fell.
You'd spent so long trying to resist this fate. You told yourself for so many years that you weren't going to die for the Boar, went so far as changing classes, so far as marching under the banner of the Alliance.
But here you are. You're fucking bleeding out on the ground, and you can't even pretend that you weren't cutting through Imperials in some mad dash to try and save him from his own stupidity. You can't even pretend that your last thought isn't going to be deep, crushing regret, the breadth and weight of the sea. If you had just been a little bit faster, a little bit stronger...
Could you have saved him?
Could you have stopped him?
Distantly, you feel the trickle of something hot and wet down your cheek.
Then, there's nothing.

You wake with a start.
You sit up in your dorm at Garreg Mach. It's quiet the way it always is just as dawn arrives, when you normally wake up.
Your heart pounds in your chest. A part of you can still feel the excruciating pain of it torn open on the point of a spear, but you are whole. You aren't even bandaged, wearing only the same shift and braies you always wear to bed. When you get up, it's easy, with only the barest ache on your inner thighs, like when you've been riding for a long time.
What's going on?
You try to breathe, to calm down. You just need a direction. You need...
A. ... to find the Professor. They're so unflappable, they probably wouldn't bat an eye if you told them what just happened.
B. ... to find Claude. You can't tell him what you're thinking, but if he can give you direction. He's always at the eye of the storm.
C. ... to find Manuela. You don't like the idea of talking to her, but maybe she'll give you something to clear your head.
D. ... to find the Boar. You have to. You just have to.
