July already

About to be August, really. This month is going so fast.
Went to my first horse show in a long time last Sunday. K talked me into it because a younger student of hers was going. So I did, even though our canter changes aren't set.

2 hour drive there, so freaking hot, Zolar was pissed off by his trailer mate. The first test was okay, but the second one was a huge hissy fit. I did stay on, but dislocated my finger-pointer finger on the right hand. sigh.
Then Tuesday I dug out a piece of my right hand with the hoof pick. Another sigh. Did get another tetanus shot the next day.

Questions.

Tuesday, a little bit of rain.

Not enough for mud bogs, but enough to help where I've mowed (I know, mowing, me!)

7. Have you ever made pastry from scratch?
lolol no.

8. If you could share your life with any kind of animal (assume for a moment that the animal is tame and wouldn’t kill you, and you had the space and resources to care for it *g*), what kind of animal would be your dream companion (real or imaginary)?
I have my horses, thanks. :)

9. Do you like wearing hats?
I look really odd in hats, mostly because of all my hair. I wear fabric visors when I'm out in the sun.

10. Have you ever been to a horse race?
No? I don't think so. I don't watch them on TV, either. Very boring.

11. Have you ever taken a first aid course? Do you know how to perform CPR?
I've taken a few. Have had regular CPR, pediatric CPR, Neonatal resuscitation, trauma resuscitation. Last CPR was many moons ago, and we don't need Neo since we don't go to the hospital anymore.

12. Is there any food you would never contemplate eating?
I don't like the idea of octopus because they are smart. And vengeful.

13. If you could win a cash prize, what would be the minimum you would want to win?
Anything is fine, thanks. Heck, $6 gets me my Starbucks drink.

14. Are there many people in your family who are left-handed?
I think none.

15. When was the last time you laughed out loud?
I know I did yesterday when I was watching a silly movie.

16. Do you still use paperclips?
We sometimes do at the clinic.

17. How active have you been over the year so far?
Active? I clean stalls 6/7 days (choir on the 7th). Try to ride 3-4 days a week. Less pilates lately, though. A bit more yard work. Lots of core work trying to look at kids all day. lol

18. How do you feel about Artificial Intelligence?
+-

19. Have you ever had a pedicure?
Yes! But I don't often have the time.

20. Do you have any friendships that have lasted more than a decade?
LJ friends. A few from school.

21. In 2022, the UK passed a law requiring calorie information to be displayed on menus, online menus, third-party apps, food delivery platforms and food labels at the point a customer is making their food and drink choices. Do you think that would make you reconsider your choices when ordering food?
Sometimes, yes.

22. If you have a backyard/garden, do you save rainwater for watering the plants in the summertime?
I don't save water. Also don't have many plants in the backyard because dogs.

23. If money were no object, would you rather have a gardener, a cleaner, a chef, a masseuse, a beautician, a florist or a hairdresser (or someone else) to be ‘on call’ for you every day? Choose one :D
Every day? hmmm...gardener or masseuse.

Saturday

I have been trying to watch more new (to me) movies. I really like rewatching my favorite B movies because I know them well enough that I can still read (heh).

But, watched Dropbear (2025), which seemed at first really stupid, but then was pretty interesting by the end. Also, the main dopbear is a dude in a koala suit. And all but one of the koalas in the movie were either CGI or stuffed toys. But it works!

Also watched Apex (2026) on Netflix. Not bad. Somewhat creepy. Gorgeous scenery.

1. Is anything (minor or major) irritating you at the moment?

So many things. lol Lately I've been a bit more pessimistic than usual, which is annoying.

2. Have you ever used a photobooth? Are they still around where you live (where’s the nearest one?)

Used one of the older ones many years ago. Maybe in med school?

3. Do you still pay for things with cash? Have you been somewhere recently where they don’t take cash anymore?

At times, like restaurants where they charge you extra for using credit card (talk about annoying). Yes, MotoMedi doesn't take cash.

4. Is rain forecast for your area this week?

Currently raining. We absolutely needed it.

5. Have you learned anything new in the past year (a new hobby/craft/language/fact)?

Nothing unusual. I keep up on CME, science podcasts, podcasts about weed shit.

6. Can you swim? If so, what age were you when you had lessons?

Yes. I don't know. I was told I had lessons, and I kind of remember, but not really.

Not really.

27. Have you ever tried box breathing? It is an effective way to calm yourself if you are feeling panicky or overwhelmed. You can find the instructions on this page.

Not that particular technique, but something similar. It helps some. I also try tapping on my hand or chest, which can help.

28. Do you have a favourite cologne or perfume?

No. Perfumes, and most colognes today and I don't get along. OTOH, some of the musk colognes on men-yummy.

29. When was the last time it rained where you live?

Last Tuesday we had our monthly allotment of rain. So much rain. Before that had been weeks.

30. What is your favourite way to eat vegetables?

Mostly raw.

31. Have you ever been in a self-driving car? Would you want to try it?

No and no thanks.

Yay!

I'm back on LJ. Ended up getting NortonVPN to be able to get LJ on my computer. Kind of side effect is more safety. lol When I looked at Nord, I had to go through way too many steps to find the actual price, which concerned me even though they had a good recommendation. Nord told me with one click. Also, they've been around forever.

Questions under the cut.

Trouble with LJ

As of yesterday morning my computer at home won't go to LJ. I've tried chrome instead of safari, clearing my cache, restarting my router. I have no idea what happened. Sigh. This morning it still wouldn't load, so will have to troubleshoot over the weekend. Any ideas? It's an older macbook air.

Wednesday in Easter Week

Made it through Holy Week. We had practice Wed evening. Thursday evening was Maundy Thursday service with foot washing, then the shipping of the alter. I always stay after an hour to meditate, so home late. Friday noon Good Friday service. Saturday evening Easter Vigil service starting in darkness with candlelight, then ringing bells, bell choir added, and high notes :D. Lasts a loooong time, but it's my favorite service.
