The Rhyl Air Show was back this summer with a spectacular line up 27th and 28th August 2022 the first show since 2019

For the first time in Rhyl Air Show’s history, The Red Arrows and The Typhoon displayed on both days

The award winning air show is fast becoming North Wales’s biggest Free seafront event the show features spectacular aerial displays and land-based attractions and entertainment.

I only attended on the Sunday as I was at The U.S. AutoShow held at Oulton Park on Saturday Link Here

The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight is a Royal Air Force flight which provides an aerial display group usually comprising an Avro Lancaster, a Supermarine Spitfire and a Hawker Hurricane.

The Red Arrows at Rhyl Air Show on Sunday

During Sunday’s performance Red 6, squadron leader Gregor Ogston, had been the victim of a “bird strike” – where a bird had collided with the jet mid-air. The bird had struck the section of the £5m jet’s glass cockpit – just above where the pilot sits – at such force that the impact shattered the canopy, leaving it with a gaping hole and its pilot exposed to the elements. Red 6 was forced to break off from the rest of the team and return to Hawarden Airport the jet landed safely and the pilot was unhurt. News Report Here including one of my images

Zip World Rhyl is home to Skyflyer, the world’s only sight-seeing experience of its kind, enjoy panoramic views, 140m – 400ft in the air on the balloon airship. Located next to the 1891 restaurant and bar, with nearby parking and stunning views of the north Wales coast opens 3rd August 2022

A mixed bunch from my July walkabout, including the new Zip Wire – Balloon attraction being setup next to the beach and the 1891 Bar & Restaurant

BIG RED features two side-by-side lines, making it perfect for friends and family to race each other to the end. The zip wires are suspended 30 feet high, and are located parallel to the Skyflyer airship.

Garden of Remembrance Rhyl War Memorial

Marine Lake is a man-made reservoir. The grounds of Marine Lake are open all year and spot some of the wildlife, or have a ride on the Miniature Railway, the oldest in the UK and operated by Rhyl Steam Preservation Trust (external website).

Delighting visitors for over 100 years. Steam trains were built in Rhyl during the 1920s, and have been hauling passengers around Marine Lake for the last eighty years!

The ticket office sells tea and coffee, confectionery and a good range of children’s gifts. The station, museum and toilets are open on every day that trains are operating. With good facilities for disabled visitors

The former Palace Hotel, opened in 1899 and was the last big hotel to be built on the seafront in Rhyl during the Victorian era.

SeaQuarium Rhyl, the seaside aquarium features over 30 exhibits with a range of species & an outdoor cove for seals.
