Hey. Hi. Been a while. Literally years since I last posted. Longer still since I stopped writing (fic or otherwise). 2011-2012 was pretty much when my mental health went boom, and with it went any and all inspiration to write. Until today. So I'm going to take a shot at it again and see where it leads me. Cross your fingers for me, will ya?

Oh boy

Way to ruin what could have been truly epic. Ben Affleck as Batman? Really? Did Dare Devil not teach you anything? Yes, that was something like a decade ago, but I haven't seen much of an improvement. The man is brilliant behind a camera, but Batman he is not.
Supernatural premiere date is October 15th. Yay!
Just over an hour before Steve Carlson's StageIt show starts. Yay! Easily one of my favourite websites. Anyone else watching tonight?
Happy New Year, all!

Haven't been around much the last couple years, but I'm hoping that'll be something I can change in 2013. I miss the sense of community I get from fandom.

Normally I would be doing a run down of the books I've read this past year, but I didn't really keep track this time around. If anyone is looking for an amazing sci-fi/fantasy series, though, I recommend Jim Butcher's Dresden Files. I am hopelessly addicted to it! Been through them all but the latest twice already. James Marsters narrates the audiobook versions.

In any case, have a wonderful night and a very happy new year!

Good news!

My friend Glen got the confirmation yesterday afternoon: he's in remission!!!!!!!!! It's been a long battle, with some added scared along the way, but chemo and radiation worked. I keep bursting into random bouts of happy/relieved/thankful tears. Can't wait to see him on Monday and give him and Kim a monster hug each.

For now I am just relaxing in bed with my puppies and watching it thunder and rain while the sun still shines bright.

Today is a good day.
Last year my friend was diagnosed with lymphoma. Today, in about an hour and fifteen minutes, he gets all his final test results now that chemo and radiation are done. There had been an anomaly with his blood tests - it could be from the radiation or it could be bone cancer. Please, please, please take a moment to send Glen your thoughts, prayers, good vibes or whatever works for you. Thank you.

I'm working on Laura Nelkin's Skywalker shawl, which is gorgeous and relatively easy because I am doing so with the help of her Craftsy class, Mastering Lace Shawls. (If you craft and you haven't been to craftsy.com yet, you're probably gonna like it.) I love this shawl so much that I already have the yarn to make a second one for my best friend's birthday gift.

But.

Planet stitch is eluding me. It seems to be 32 rows of "let's torture Shannon by being off a single stitch and not let her figure out where it happened so she has to pull it out again!" ... After frogging the section back to the start three times, I started putting lifelines in on every purl row. Which turned out to be a fabulous idea given how many times I have pulled it out since. It's not that the section is particularly difficult, it just requires concentration. Hard to concentrate with two puppies vying for my attention every time I sit down to knit. And I learned the hard way when first starting the shawl that this is not a work friendly project.

So I'm sitting here poking around Ravelry for shawl patterns and completely ignoring Skywalker. And Haruni (another shawl which is also not a work friendly project). And the lovely pile of merino fiber sitting next to my spindle waiting to be spun so I can start making my mom's birthday gift out of it.

Oh, and ignoring the pages and pages (and pages) of handwritten J2 big bang that needs to be typed out before May 1.

Avoidance? Me? Never! Anyway.
Dear Etsy:

Why are you not letting me leave feedback? It's kind of (really) annoying.

No love,

Me

Thank you for the virtual v-day gifts, [livejournal.com profile] apieceofcake and [livejournal.com profile] patrese1! :)
I think I may have lost my mind, but I'm going to sign up for this years spn/J2 big bang. Let's just hope that the calm of the last few weeks holds out. Aaaand I'm gonna need a beta. One willing to kick my ass into gear, hold my hand when I inevitably freak, and take a good hard look at every aspect of the fic - grammar, plot, characterization, everything. Just saying.
Hanging out with [livejournal.com profile] cinderella81, got back from dinner not too long ago. Our waiter was Jensen Ackles caliber beautiful. And that is not an exaggeration at all. Now to see if I can stay awake until the ball drops....ha.

Sophie got spayed today, poor little thing. She's so lethargic, can barely keep her head up. But all went well. She's sitting next to me trying to stay upright. Wearing a pink onsie. Because those cones are just not fun.

It's official! [livejournal.com profile] cinderella81 is booking her plane tickets tonight and will be here on December 30! Yay!!

Also, I am on the volunteer list for Supernatural Toronto 2012!

This weeks episode of Sons of Anarchy was awesome. I LOVE that show SO. Much.

I have no words for how epic this weekend was. Mostly because I am tired enough to sleeeeeeeeeep for the next twelve to fourteen hours. I am definitely volunteering again next year.

For now, let me just say that Jensen's laugh lines are spellbinding from two feet away, Jared is even more beautiful in person, Misha is hilarious, Richard is utterly awesome, Julian is so very genuine and kind, Traci is STUNNING up close and personal, Cliff is very cool, Corin is funnier than I would have thought, Damon was a sweetheart, The fans were beautiful, wonderful people, and only one fangirl brought up fanfiction. Thank god it was in a not-dirty way. And I felt awful every time I had to tell someone to stop filming during panels. :( I reeeeaaallly tried to avoid getting saddled with that job.

ok, bed now please. Now... if I could have the feeling back in my feet by morning, that'd be great.

I got the e-mail with the volunteer call times today! The con is only a week or so away. I'm so excited! My best friend and I both volunteered. Mostly because neither of us could afford to go. It should be fun, and I definitely need fun these days.
