One more story written for Porn Battle IX, squeezed in under the wire (with 3 minutes to go, cuz that's how we roll.)

- The Porn Battle was truly lots of fun. Ice cream (and porn) for everyone who participated!

- I noticed that I seem to end up writing actual stories when I'm trying to write porn, and writing plotless/pornless stuff when I'm supposed to write actual stories. Sigh, I don't even know. /o\

- Current goal: organize/tag my journal entries and archive stuff I've written. How in the world do you people manage it? I'm looking sadly at my LJ and seeing that I've never tagged a single post in my life. No, that's not true, I used one (1) tag precisely one (1) time, and deleted it just now (solidarity!) because this is just ridiculous.

Leggy leggy leggy blonde Porn Battle's got it going on! Seriously. GUH. There's been a bunch of really hot stuff posted so far. Some of the fandoms I'm not at all familiar with, but that didn't seem to matter because the porn transcends it all, yo.

Despite how my brain is somewhat of a prude, this is actually one of my favorite events that really shows how awesome fandom is as a whole, from the writers to the brains & volunteers running and promoting all of this.

The only problem: I keep having to ask myself, "Do I really need another way to procrastinate?"

It turns out the answer is yes. Yes, I do.

---------------

I've completed two so far:

Fandoms: Crossover, Generation Kill/True Blood
Pairing: Eric/Nate
Prompt: bloodlust
Title: Bloodlust
Original thread HERE
Also archived on AO3 HERE.

Fandom: due South
Pairing: Fraser/Kowalski
Prompt: tune-up & dirty
Title: A Secret History of the Goat
Original thread HERE
Also archived on AO3 HERE.

Go forth and porn!

Pints of ice cream (Americone Dream!) consumed this weekend: Two.
Work done: Zilch!
DVDs watched this weekend:

1. Fingersmith (2005)

Image
This is the 3-hour BBC miniseries based on the novel by Sarah Waters, about a thief from the slums who falls in love with the rich lady she was supposed to swindle. I was luckily unspoiled for this, so the plot twists kept me on the edge of my seat. More than 'just a lesbian romance' (although the love scenes killed me with their tenderness) this is overall really, really good, and absolutely satisfying to watch.

2. Revolutionary Road (2008)

Image
So. I wanted to see this because (1) Kate Winslet ♥ and (b) I was intrigued by a review of Richard Yates's novel, describing it as the brilliant masterpiece of an unapologetic misogynist who somehow managed to create a 'proto-feminist' in Kate's character, and who captured the sense of suffocation, the desperation of these women, and the heartache. Having said that, holy dumb idea batman why, WHY did I think this was a good idea? No complaints about the acting, I loved the soundtrack, but the film itself is way bleak.

3. Generation Kill (2008)
I'm finally going to watch Generation Kill, partly to wash away the aftertaste of Revolutionary Road. Somebody please warn me if this will break my heart!

If all else fails, I'll have to turn to Imageontd_startrek for the cheering up. Desperate? Hell yes.

It just occurred to me that I haven't updated my LJ since I changed my username. So. Hello! No need to alert the authorities because you don't recognize this name--I was previously itsuki9

1. Work has been pretty brutal so there's not much to write home about. However, I am currently quite in love with Merlin fandom, and on beat down days (and there have been many ... I think someone switched Big Boss's coffee to decaf), the episodes, the fics, and the vids have been like a salve. Just, dumb puppies and sunshine and unicorns all over the place--how lovely is that?

2. Am in the process of writing a Merlin fic. Having dental work done might be more pleasant. Paaaaain.

3. Took a road trip to San Francisco last month. Biking the Golden Gate Bridge was a great experience! Me, on a bike, on a bridge, on a windy day? Just a slapstick comedy waiting to happen. A few small pictures from the trip after the cut.

As seen elsewhere on the f-list. I thought the vid was powerful and, well, it truly breaks my heart. I'm really hoping it can change the minds of at least a few people.

A video from The Courage Campaign, "Fidelity":

Ken Starr filed a legal brief last month -- on behalf of the "Yes on 8" campaign -- that would forcibly divorce 18,000 same-sex couples that were married in California last year before the passage of Prop 8.

Watch "Fidelity" and sign our letter to the state Supreme Court. Tell the Supreme Court to invalidate Prop 8, reject Ken Starr's case, and let loving, committed couples marry.

I wrote both entries in the first evening, and it felt really great to force myself to just crank 'em out and post 'em. (wheeeeee!)
I was on a roll and had ambitions to write in a few more fandoms:

Battlestar Galactica, Anders/Leoben/Starbuck.
3:10 to Yuma, Ben/Dan.
Life, Charlie/Constance.
My Beautiful Laundrette, Johnny/Omar.
Without a Trace, Danny/Martin.

Of course, I should have known that the act of scribbling these down--or maybe just the intention to open a new Word file for each--was an invitation for the universe to start messing with me. Oh, Universe, you so funny. /o\

... If there is anything less porny-thoughts-inducing than being told at the last minute to write a thinky techy report for work, within a 48 hour deadline, I don't know what that could be. Flying skunks, maybe.

In summary: My thoughts were purer than a unicorn after that. The smut refused to be written.
Dammit.

There's always time for something light-hearted, in the midst of all this mess.

Imagesnarkyducky sent me this short clip from Craig Ferguson's The Late Late Show.
It's ... McCain related, but I absolutely adore it. (I actually giggled, and that's pretty disturbing.)
