I wasn't going to bother with participating much here, because all my content is already Dreamwidth-only, as I sent LiveJournal packing quite a while ago, and cross-posting to JournalFen is, like everything else about JournalFen, so broken.
But anyway, I decided to ahead and do some stuff, because I don't update here until I need to whine about something, and that just makes for a boring journal, and that's no good.
So, this week, the 21 Days of Dreamwidth Questions meme, next week, the 21 Characters meme, the week after that, well... we'll see. (If you have suggestions I'll gladly take them.)
Anyway, I have some catching up to do on the 21 Questions, so away we go!
- Why did you sign up for Dreamwidth?
You know, I honestly don't remember! I recall being resistant about it, and someone managed to change my mind but I really don't know who, or how any more. Um, whoever it was, thank you! - Why did you choose your journal name?
I don't know if that means my username, which is just my (working) name, or my journal title, Stars were bright from the dark side of your moon. The latter is from the song "Bakersfield" by Anne McCue
I just liked the poetry of it. - Do you crosspost? Why or why not?
As noted above, no. I would crosspost certain fandom things to JournalFen, if it worked, but it doesn't. One day JournalFen is gonna fall into the GreatestJournal ocean, I swear. :( - What do you do online when you're not on DW?
Does writing count when I'm using Google Docs? I think so. It's my most frequently open tab, in any case. Not only are there the logs for the RPGs in which I play I've got two fic series going on with my awesome partner
viklikesfic, one is an AU of a combo we have in one of our RPGs, one is an awesome kinky slashy NCIS series.
Otherwise, there's Tumblr and AO3 and Twitter (my Twitter client is almost always open, as evidenced by my volume of tweets) and AIM and the SDMB forum and Netflixing. (Yes, I just verbed that noun!)
I also occasionally build websites. I just built one for a guy who's running for sheriff in Westmoreland County, PA. There are ten candidates in the field. If anyone wants to Google and play detective and try to figure out which one I might've done the sight for, I'll laugh my pants off. - How about when you're not on the computer?
I sleep. Really lately that's about it. I don't think I've left the house since last Monday. I'm not even joking. - What do you wish people who read your journal knew about you?
That's a good question. I think I wish people could see me as competent at something. I don't feel particularly competent as a journal keeper or a writer (solo, at least) or much else these days, frankly. I'd like it if I could be provably good at something. - What is your favorite community on Dreamwidth?
I can't possibly choose just one. - What community do you wish was more active?
If it's fair to name my own,
bakeitup and
cookability as well as
omnomnom. I want more foods! - Are there two people on your reading list that you think should meet?
Everyone! Everyone should meet. I think I'm meant to play matchmaker here or something, but no. Everyone should meet, because you're all awesome. - Tell me about your default icon.
It's me, as created on the MadMenYourself website. It actually does sort of resemble me, though my glasses are a different shape and my hair is much curlier. If it were 1964, it'd be me. And purple is my favorite color. - What features do you think Dreamwidth should have that it doesn't currently?
Teleportation powers. Oh, wait, reality. Um... you know I can't think of anything. I know people are clamoring for photo hosting and I cannot imagine for the life of me why. Dedicated photohosts are available for free and they do an excellent job with photo hosting and serving up images remotely and integrating with so many various platforms, I cannot imagine why someone wants their journaling company to be their photohosting company. Specialization is very often a really good thing. - What do you consider the five most "telling" interests from the list on your profile? Why?
I think the ones that no one else seems to share: l'esprit d'escalier, making every word count, making plans that i might never fulfill, making words fit together, and more than anything, sick-and-tired-of-being-sick-and-tired. Profile interest hyphen abuse, I has it.
I'll be back tomorrow with three more answers, now that I'm all caught up. Meanwhile, happy birthday to my birthday twin
