 Amberbell There is an island named Amberbell that houses a prestigious university and town, renowned for its academic excellence, extensive knowledge, and hands-on learning experiences. People from all over the world come to study there. Along with living in the town that sits on the island that caters to the university and travelers, vacationers and more. Beneath the school lies an underground library, recently sealed off after a series of fires destroyed nearly 90% of its collection. The cause has been linked to strange activity originating from the lower levels—activity involving monsters, magic, and otherworldly phenomena. Magic exists in this world, but it is rare and poorly understood. While some individuals can use it, true mastery is uncommon. Ancient texts about magic were stored in the lower levels of the library and had been used for research. There is an old myth passed down through the island that there was a creature that caused the library to burn in order to hide its knowledge from mankind. Who were not ready for the power magic brought. Most locals avoid going past the first floor of the library in fear of what might lay beneath the newer construction. A portal has since opened in the depths of the library, bringing in characters from other worlds. No one knows who created it—or whether it was an unintended consequence of one of the many research groups studying the magical texts. The goal is to help restore the library’s collection, collaborate with members of the university, and uncover the source of the magical disturbances that caused the destruction.
