hey. i saw your "add me" tweet and signed into the site using OpenID from my LiveJournal URL. ....wow, i sound really technologically inclined there, dont' i? hee. :D (OpenID is pretty much fantastic, btw.)
....so this is basically set up exactly like LiveJournal? it looks pretty much exactly the same. do you have friends on DreamWidth you wanted to keep up with, or just a new journal space that not as many/different people know about?
It pretty much is LJ, yes. Well, the friends I've got on DW so far are people I met through an LJ comm I frequent (wtf_stupid, can't remember if I've talked to you about it before -- chances are yes, haha). But honestly, I wanted a place away from LJ and certain people. And a sort of "starting over," if you will, haha.
So essentially, both of what you said, although the friends on DW are also ones I've got on LJ, so I can keep up with them on here, too. Just a sort of alternate thing if LJ tanks for some reason.
When I get invites, I can always invite you, if you want!
yeah, i remember you talking about wtf_stupid once or twice. starting over is always a cool thing, yeah. i'm not sure i'll ever completely do it, because any time i start something new i tend to use "phyrablaze," thus can always be tracked to my other things... maybe eventually (and i think that's the idea behind OpenID? using the same username always to prove who you are? hm). at least my Facebook is relatively disconnected from everything else (LJ, Twitter, DA, Etsy, etc...).
Yeah, I usually link all my stuff back to something, like my deviantart can be tracked to my LJ, but I figure if someone's going to go through the trouble of all that, eh. I'm definitely not going to add anyone and everyone on here, but it is more "separate" from my LJ than anything has been before, really. Well, except for my wouldyoucatchme account...haha.
i actually don't have links to anywhere from anywhere, i think. that's my "try to keep stuff apart" attempt, i guess. ha. ...now that i think about it, actually, my DA isn't phyrablaze. haha. at some point i think i MAY have some photography up there, and i guess i wanted to separate myself from all my other online entities because that's my eventual profession... idunno.
i know! i really need to try to actually find out the extents of what OpenID can do and all that. i thought i could just sign in to read and post comments, but apparently i've got some sort of account here? just from signing into OpenID? dunno, but... check it- new icons! ha!
i'm on your Dreamwidth flist? ...man, i gotta figure out OpenID sometime soon... but later, haha.... probably after next wednesday, cuz i got a midterm 2 project critique on tuesday and a midterm exam on wednesday. blargh, short terms!
Hey there, apocalypse_please =D I know you don't subscribe to fiction_transitions, which makes me nervous you might not love an intrusion into your private journal ^^;;; (I'm not a pushy stalker, just an I LOVE THE COMM insomniac- I swear!)
Just wanted to tell you how glad I am that you've joined the comm and stuck around. You're welcome to participate as much or as little as you see fit...I'm still very glad to have you with us.
And yes, yes I did skim over the comments above mine (seriously- who doesn't, right?) and (1) I have some extra invite codes if you'd like them. I don't want/need them because (2) I also am getting a fresh start away from LJ, and have already DW-friended the handful of people I wanted to keep in touch with.
Middle of the randomness is fun, not annoying...right? RIGHT? Okay. Welcome, let me know if you'd like some codes, and hopefully I'll be ~seeing~ you around. No pressure. ^__^
Oh hi! Sorry for the late reply -- I haven't been on the computer much in the past few days.
I don't mind the 'intrusion' at all, and always welcome new friends. :) I haven't actually visited the comms I'm a member of since I joined; I know, I know, I'm a terrible DW-er. But I'm definitely going to start participating; I've been attempted JulNoWriMo and it's just not going well. I keep straying into fanfic once again.. so it'll be a great resource for me.
Thank you! I just might take you up on at least one of the offers.
No worries about the random -- I'm always up for comments, new friends, and messages! ;)
My writing hasn't been going well either, but I've been on this nightmare of a vacation. I go home tomorrow.
I got all freaked out and manic when I tried to do nanowrimo, both times I tried. I absolutely love the idea of it, but the actual DOING part doesn't work out so well for me. I remember the first time a writer told me they'd won nanowrimo I seriously thought they'd WON- like won a publishing contract or something, out of all the participants. It was probably at least a year before I figured out what "won" means in that instance =___= Not to belittle it. I never lasted longer than a few hours. Literally.
My word count to people I really don't know, in THEIR journals, when I should be sleeping is pretty high though. In that arena I am a winner!!!! \o/\o/\o/ Okay- sleeping now, in preparation of eight hours in the car tomorrow @___@
