astrolaliaIt’s been so long since I’ve even thought about Dreamwidth, but I might try to use this blog more… I just made a Wordpress for sharing my writing, and this might be a good place to save ideas for expanding on later. Or maybe that’ll get a little convoluted…?
I just think it could be helpful to have a (semi) private (look technically this blog is public, but I know no one is actually reading it, so it’s private enough…and I can always change my settings) place to bounce ideas off a wall, toss out some short essays for later revising, etc. Not sure if that makes any sense. It’s 2am and I can’t really sleep and I’m mulling over a bunch of things in my head that I want to do, now that I seem to have the energy.
First things first, I’d love to start doing some essays, maybe some book/movie reviews, especially on horror.
I’m going to be reworking The Passenger into a web serial for the aforementioned Wordpress account. Which will mean restarting it…again. But as a serial, I’ll be able to expand on things more that I probably wouldn’t have been able to as a novel, I can let the story sprawl a bit, and I’d like to do interludes throughout of Selena and Oberon…
I want to write an essay on Houska Castle through the lens of Kitty Horrorshow’s “Anatomy;” the concept of the house as an entity/organism/living thing in itself, and what it means to be “haunted.” In Anatomy, the house became lonely and hungry after being abandoned… So what might that say about a house (castle) built with the intention of being left empty (save for the pit to hell it was meant to conceal)? I’m mulling over the concept of the feral child, left in the woods without human contact—like a baby neglected in a dark room, without socialization or so much as a gentle touch. This may make a good addition to In the Night, in the Dark as well.
I definitely want to get back into my reread if House of Leaves and post my thoughts on that.
And I’m mulling over some kind of story revolving around Weird, Ohio.
Oh, I’d like to work more on Twine as well—I’ve been thinking over this story idea (which was originally going to be dmmd fic but I may take the concept and make it an og work) about a man who can’t die wandering a post-apocalyptic wasteland, and I wonder if Twine might be a good medium for that. Related note: can I post Twine on Wordpress? … How does one post/share Twine games at all, actually…? Much to think about.
