The usual disclaimer: vid what you want, how you want it, it's gonna be dope. 💛 Below is some more detail about my requests – really just rambling – should you require it.

Trigger-wise, I don't have any physical triggers. And my requests shouldn't contain any others that you need to worry about.

I love that it is bonkers in the most fun way.

If you want to focus on any of these aspects for your vid, I would love to see the result. Or just go "this is a movie that exists"?

I'm new to the DMBJ universe, I've seen this movie and half of s1 of Sound of the Providence so far. So if you want to mix in things from other shows/movies in this universe, you are of course welcome to do that, but know that I probably won't understand the reference.

Alright, checklist out of the way.

I love Hei Yanjing/Xie Yuchen individually and as pairing, if you want to make a character or shippy vid for them, you have my eager enthusiasm. An action vid or just telling the story of the movie would also be a lot of fun.

If you are thinking tentacles vid, please know that I cherrish and support your thoughts, make it nasty!

You know, you could mix this one and Green Snake together, if you wanted to. There is crossover potential. I am innocently pointing this out.

Style Wars (1983) [SAFETY]

Style Wars influenced me a lot as a teenager, it's a documentary that is very dear to my heart. These kids are wonderful and funny and talented and I'd love a vid that's a celebration of this culture.

My favorite artists of the bunch featured in the documentary were Dondi and Kase2. Skeme and his mother are my overall favorite part of the documentary. Just mentioning this in case you want to focus on someone specific, but don't feel like you have to.

There's also of course a very political side to all of this. I won't pretend to know much about politics and race in NYC in the lates 70s/early 80s, but I'd nevertheless love to see a vid about it, if you want to make one.

Jang Eunha is so hoottttttttt. 😭 You could make a vid about that fact! This movie looks gorgeous, with really fun car chases and fight scenes, that could also be a vid. Or an ensemble vid, I'm always here for found family feels. 💛

I love that five million people die in this trailer and it's only the trailer. There's 125 minutes more of this in the movie. 😂

Jungle Music Videos (Band)

I was introduced to the music of Jungle via this video, so I've always associated this band with their music videos. I love that their music videos celebrate dancing, they are single-take mini dance performances.

They formed a partnership with this crew of dancers and they work together to make such beautiful, cool, moving, videos. With unique visual styles for the different albums.

I adore the Volcano movie/visual album, so if you want to only use the music videos from that for a more coherent look, please go ahead. At the time of writing they released 9/14 parts of the movie, they'll probably put the entire thing on youtube. But for now you have to get the Volcano movie for the rest of it. But I love all* their videos, don't think you have to limit yourself to that album.

I'm in it for the visuals, there's no specific "characters" or "plots" that I'm invested in. Me watching their music videos is basically just me going "wow, they're doing the dancing so good!" and "oooh, it's so pretty!" Buuuut, if you see a story in these videos that you want to tell, I think that's super cool and I would love to see it!

* They had this phase where for a few videos there was a bunch of flickering lights. I don't get seizures/headaches, they don't affect me physically, but I think it's annoying. You don't have to skip those videos entirely, but if you could keep the flickering to a minimum, I would appreciate that.

Skylines (Germany 2019)

This is a show set in my home town. I don't live in NYC or London or whatever, so I don't get to say this often.

Is this show good? No. Is it a bit cringe? Yes. But! I had no idea how powerful it is to hear dialog that sounds like you're walking down the street. And the streets you're walking down are on the screen. That is good stuff! And this show did actually have some genuinely good moments, it wasn't all bad. Looked good, too.

So, good news: it's on Netflix and only 6 x 50 minutes. Bad news it's because they were canceled. Basically the show ends after they've established the characters and the setting. 🙃

What vid would I like to receive? Well, if you wanted to make a vid just about the city/the setting, I would get a kick out of that actually. 😅

My favorite character is Kadir, a vid about him, how he's torn between his chosen family – Semir, the label – and his brother, his own blood, would be interesting. I don't really care about his whatever with Sara. You can also go shippy with Kadir/Semir if you want, but I honestly wasn't invested enough to have shippy feelings about anybody.

I also liked Jinn and Zilan's storyline. What a glorious elevator ride they were, going up just to violently plummet to the ground. 😂

They are all garbage, flawed people. Good guys, bad guys, whatever, always human, sometimes likable and sometimes not. I mean, generally, across the board, these are all disaster people making horrible choices, feel free to just celebrate that. 😂

Ghost Files - Watcher Entertainment (Web Series)

I thought about nominating Watcher Entertainment as a whole, but in the end I decided I want the spooky boys. If you want to mix in stuff from other Watcher shows, or from Buzzfeed Unsolved, you are welcome to do that though. (I consider Ghost Files Debrief to be part of Ghost Files.)

Since I went spooky-specific, feel free to make a spooky vid. But I mainly watch the show for Ryan and Shane shenanigans, so feel free to make a funny/chaotic vid. I also hella ship them, if you want to make a Ryan/Shane vid, I would love to see it.

Starstruck (TV 2021)

My wonderful disaster children! I love this show. I love these characters. You can make me a Tom vid, or a Jessie vid, or an ensemble vid, or a recruiter vid, or even a Tom/Jessie vid. But I actually like the show's ending, so uh, are there songs about how some people shouldn't be together? In a sensible way, not a No Children by The Mountain Goats way? Then I'd love a vid about that!

云襄传 | The Ingenious One (TV)

Soooo, this might backfire, because I haven't finished the show yet. But 26 episodes in, I am so in love with all of it! And for your vidding purposes, don't worry, I'll easily have finished it by the time festivids goes live.

The plot is A++, it looks gorgeous, the characters and the acting is great, it's a great mix of intense spy game revenge drama and swooshy action.

Yun Xiang, and his face, and his scheming, and his sad little smile. 🥺

Shu Yanan, and her face, and her smirking, and her badass fighting. 🥺

And also those two together [squishes their faces]. They love each other so much. 😭 I love that they just go for it, no waiting around for 35 episodes and they communicate with each other... or at least they do until plot twist. Absolutely love this pairing.

I am also incredibly in love with Mo Bufan and Kang Qiao. They make every scene they're in better. I ship them. If you want to make a vid about any or all of these people? Or a recruiter vid? Or something focused on the plot? Or a wider ensemble vid. I am honestly cool with all of it. I just want to see vids for this show!
